A propos

Our working group on Responsible Research and Innovation operates across a variety of industry areas and has an extensive experience in EU funded Research Projects. We are part of the Institute for Innovation Policy at Tecnalia Research and Innovation, the largest private Research, Development and Innovation entity in Spain and one of the leading ones in Europe. Our focus is on promoting ethics and sustainability in science and technology and on managing technological projects related to societal transformations. In the development of solutions to mitigate and enhance social impacts we are dealing with a variety of issues such as inclusion of underrepresented populations, gender & socio-economic equality, human rights, etc. We are used to working with topics of needs assessment, stakeholder identification and engagement, multi-level and intersectional analysis, etc.

Furthermore, we have a solid experience in mentoring, coaching, and management of Social Labs, as well as in close collaboration with scientists, engineers and developers to stimulate reflections on the societal dimensions of their work. We have a great ability to imagine future scenarios, articulate narratives and develop understanding and collective responsibility between different audiences. We can bring onboard some methodologies, such as:

  • Socio-Technical Integration Research (STIR): Integration of broader ethical, legal and social dimensions in science and technology decision-making processes.
  • Ethics evaluation, support and governance
  • Social Labs Management: Fast prototyping and addressing of complex ground-breaking social challenges on a systemic level through collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
  • Narratives and storytelling: Communicating science with nonexpert audiences to increase comprehension and interest.
