COMI is a non-governmental organisation, composed of professionals and volunteers who lend their commitment and professionalism to implement projects in countries in the South of the world and in Italy. It was founded in 1973, and in the following year it joined Focsiv, the Italian Federation of Christian Organisations of International Volunteering, and obtained recognition from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2016 it obtained recognition as CSO – Civil Society Organisation from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.
With a focus on education, health, women's empowerment, and local economic development, COMI operates through collaborative projects in Africa, Latin America, and Europe, fostering long-term partnerships with local organizations and communities.
Key Areas of Work:
- Migration and Integration: Initiatives to address the root causes of irregular migration while promoting safe and sustainable development in migrants’ countries of origin.
- Youth and Education: Programs aimed at enhancing access to education, vocational training, and skill development for young people.
- Gender Equality: Empowering women and girls through education, entrepreneurship support, and advocacy for their rights.
- Community Health: Improving access to healthcare and promoting public health awareness in underserved areas.
COMI places strong emphasis on sustainability, capacity building, and community participation, ensuring that its interventions lead to self-reliance and lasting impacts.
By combining grassroots engagement with international collaboration, COMI contributes to creating a fairer and more inclusive world.
