I have been professor for comparative education at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, retired in 2015 and keep a position as senior professor at the Institute of Education since then. Currently I am teaching two courses on intercultural communication, in addition a course on Chinese education will be offered in spring ; My main project is on the concept of "face" as a universal construct with locally defined ways of practice, new designs for inter- and transcultural trainings and new formats of e-learning.

My idea is to combine classic approaches to intercultural competence development with new forms of IT based e-learning formats, ;the combination with MOOCs or elements of related MOOCs. A core element of the didactics will be self-paced learning and research based learning.
