The role of project-“Support to Local and Regional Development in Ganja-Gazakh economic region (SLRD)” funded EU delegation to Azerbaijan, implemented by German International Cooperation plays an important role for development of region. Within the project, city/district development plans have been elaborated in 9 districts and 2 cities of Ganja -Gazakh economic region, respective capacity building measures have been delivered to regional and local stakeholders for successful implementation of development plans.

Development plans have been elaborated based on participatory planning approach through in-depth analyses of socio-economic potential of city/district, discussions on socio-economic problems with their deep reasons, implications and possible solutions. City/district development planning process consists of two phases processed by 6 workshops, researches and on spot consultations. Pool of facilitators (16) have been trained to run participatory workshops and dozens of trainings have been delivered regional and local stakeholders to better implement the city/district development plans. With prior recommendation of key partner -Ganja-Gazakh regional branch of Ministry of Economy and State Tourism Agency, RegNet (regional network of experts) limited liability company was established to ensure sustainable capacity building support to different stakeholders for regional development.

RegNet intends to contribute development of regions through facilitation of development processes and need oriented capacity building and consultations ;
