I am the author of several books, including Understanding Chinese Politics, Manchester University Press, 2013. My publications on aspects of Chinese politics have included articles in Asian Studies Review, Asian Ethnicity and the Journal of Marketing Management. I am currently engaged in research on Central Asia, especially Kazakhstan. I am looking to join H2020 projects (or similar) that look at issues such as the OBOR, food safety regulations and 'soft power' diplomacy.

The cooperation between universities could be aided by a share research ethics framework drawing on European experience in STEM, humanities and social science. With colleagues at Nazarbayev University, I am doing research in this area and would welcome a chance to take part in a consortium.

Nazarbayev University, Astana, Kazakhstan, is interested in a partnership in the cultural heritage area in the context of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). We suspect that there will be many heritage discoveries in the course of establishing the BRI but see an need to improve cultural heritage management skills.
