A propos

Esperimenti Architettonici began its journey in 2011 as an informal network of students, researchers and designers spread across the national territory, many of whom were born in Altamura, to promote initiatives aimed at raising public awareness on the issues of contemporary living and quality architecture.
The group was established as an association as APS in 2014 and is recognized as an ETS - Third Sector organization registered with RUNTS.

EA is configured as an interdisciplinary, purpose-driven collaborative platform
to the promotion of:
- culturally based urban regeneration strategies;
- civic participation and community empowerment paths;
- laboratories, seminars and thematic workshops;
- social innovation paths
- inclusive dynamics for local development inspired by the values ​​of inclusion, of
beauty and sustainability;
- collaborative networks for the contamination of knowledge and practices.

Projects / Initiatives

2024 | Knowledge garden (KG)
EA is part of the group of bodies and organizations supporting the Link association to animate COMETA – Educating Community of the Altamura area. The action concerns facilitating the co-design of a space for outdoor education and co-imagining the creation process with experts of various disciplines. The intervention, located at the Agorateca - Community Library (Altamura), aims to overturn the classroom model to be inspired, on the contrary, by the concepts of the learning environment and learning everywhere that can enhance all available spaces and resources. The intervention is characterized by wooden furnitures as benches and a platform; moreover, sun shades are provided. KG serves the entire community and in response to its multiple and complex needs.

2024 | Mend in public day – Fashion Revolution Week
Workshop held at the Ethnographic Museum of Alta Murgia (Altamura) on 20 April 2024 promoted as part of the international event Fashion Revolution Week, the international awareness campaign on the social and environmental effects of the production and delocalization of the textile sector and the fashion industry by a ethical point of view. The workshop included an intergenerational laboratory based on mending techniques, reuse, and upcycling of clothing and fabrics. Furthermore, a swap corner has been set up for the exchange of used and vintage clothes.

2022 - 2024 | StaffettArtigiana Reloaded – Inclusion and Work

A territorial Living Lab implementing actions for inclusion, support, and job placement for young NEETs and students. The project aims to strengthen social and economic regeneration strategies and territorial enhancement, focusing on involving local artisans and reinforcing active citizenship, legality, and co-responsibility. The project, funded by regional and national resources, builds on a 2015 initiative. It operates through two main actions:

  1. Re-Lab: design thinking promoting open innovation for artisans and local stakeholders
  2. School-Archive: preserving and sharing artisanal heritage

The goal is to blend innovation, circular economy principles, and traditional craftsmanship. The follow-up is the launch of a School of Craft after a community agreement subscribed by 20+ stakeholders. 

2021 – ongoing | Abitare Circolare / Circular Living
International project based on diverse activities aims to raise awareness and enhance a discussion on the topic of waste and circular economy in urban regeneration processes. The project was launched with an international online conference hosted as part of the program of events of the Italian Pavilion "Resilient Communities" at the 17th International Architecture Exhibition Biennale of Venice.
After conferences, webinars, and workshops, the book was published in February 2023. It collects essays and best practices selected through an Open Call and the evaluation of a scientific committee.
The conference and the publication were both carried out with the support of the Directorate General for Education, Research and Cultural Institutes of the Ministry of Culture.
