LEAD PARTNER - CSBNO

CSBNO: it is the largest Italian Library Cooperation Consortium in a supra-municipal urban context and today plays a role of "Cultural Hub" for almost one million citizens and for many economic and institutional subjects, offering a large array of cultural services to the territory.

Alongside with CSBNO we have in our consortium "FuoriOpera", a cultural start-up who created a innovative and involving way to bring the lyric Opera closer to the wide public. It is a new tool able to tell story under another point of view: actors and musicisians can put on stage shorter versions of the most famous Operatic titles in unconventional and non-theatrical spaces and contexts. This metodology removes boarders and preconceptions that usually paint the Opera as an elitist and outdated form of artistical expression.

CALL FOR PARTNERS IN THE WESTERN BALKANS

CSBNO is currently looking to involve in this project partners from the Western Balkans: from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Norhe Macedonia and Serbia. The partners need to be active in the cultural field in their country in the past 2 years and have some experience of involvement in european projects.

THE PROJECT

The project aims at fostering cooperation, circulation, networking and professional exchange between young Lyric Opera artists (singers, musicians and graphic designers) from the Western Balkans and Europe, through preparing and staging of Chamber Opera performances in unconventional and non-theatrical spaces in Western Balkans, Italy and Romania. The productions will be offered to audiences in the partner countries, exposing the general public, and in particular public that does not usually attend Lyric Opera, to the wealth of cultural contents it has to offer.

The project will be articulated in two cycles. Each cycle will begin with the preparation and training phase, during which the participants will take part in masterclasses of Vocal art, Instrumental performance and Digital scenography design, in order to enhance their professional value and skills, thus straightening their competitiveness in accessing professional opportunities. They will be guided by tutors, recognised professionals in their respective fields, and work in close collaboration with peers from Western Balkans, Italy, Romania and other countries.

After the training phase the performance phase will begin. The chosen operatic titles will be produced and staged in Chamber format and performed in front of audiences in partner countries in the Western Balkans, Europe and Italy.

The project will satisfy the need to bring closer participants from Western Balkans and Europe, fostering better relations, promoting artistic cooperation, peer-learning and networking.

It will also respond to the need of promoting the art of Lyric Opera in the Balkans, where that cultural aspect has not been given the due importance, as a result of the recent history and difficult political and social metamorphoses.

The flexible Chamber format of the produced performances of the project will bring Lyric Opera, both In the Balkans and the other partner countries, to audiences, that are not usually exposed to these cultural contents.
