The target group of this project is males and females in young age (between the ages of 18 and 30 years) . In general, rates of formal help seeking for mental health disorders are low, with only 35% of those who experiencing a mental health disorder seeking professional help. Especially, help seeking and awareness among young adults are at low rate too. According to the National Survey of Mental Health and Wellbeing, 15% of young adults have anxiety disorders, 6% have affective disorders, such as depression, and 50% of these young adults may also exhibit a comorbid disorder (such as major depression and/or
anxiety disorder). Professional help seeking behavior levels among young people are lower than in the general population and this disparity between prevalence and help seeking is known as “service gap”.
Therefore, it is evident that enhancing young peoples’ levels of understanding upon common mental health problems both in urban and rural areas is more than necessary. Moreover, within the framework, key priority of this project, is to reduce levels of stigma associated with common mental health problems in this pertinent population.
