Research, Development and Innovation centers for carbon-negative design.

Time is running out to rein in runaway climate chaos. We know this, and as the recent United Nations IPCC report has clarified, and the first six months of 2021 have demonstrated, we must dramatically scale up our efforts to reverse excess greenhouse gases accumulatig in the atmosphere.

Albert Bates and Kathleen Draper have outlined an achievable strategy to recapture C02 in a 'new industrial revolution' based on development of new carbon-based materials, technologies, strategies and products. They show how the numbers match up, and argue soils-based sequestration can only provide 20% of the net draw-down required to restablize the climate. The rest could come via creation of 'Carbon Cascades'  outlined in their recent book: "Burn: Using Fire to Cool the ;

Setting up RD and I clusters focused upon such technology development could demonstrate a way forward for much more rapid and comprehensive de-carbonization.

Based within well-established models and methodologies for thematic enterprise clusters, Carbon Cascade centers could draw , train and support early stage ecological designers and ecological entrepreneurs to kick start an entirely new, robust and much needed econoomic sector. Based within Open Source, broadly inclusive Carbon Cascade Centers could collaborate and share their learning going forward to proliferate the model globally.

I am calling for collaborating partners to help refine the concept and create an initial set of such facilities.
