zweiwöchiger Kurs für europ. E-Lehrer im Sekundarbereich
Date du début: 3 oct. 2016, Date de fin: 2 oct. 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

context/background of project: the change of the Austrian school system to NMS (Neue Mittelschule) meets us with difficult tasks and new challenges, especially when it comes to the teaching of languages. I am much interested that Mrs. Leitner will attend this course as there are also special needs pupils at our school which are enrolled in heterogenic classes. Teamteaching does not solve the problem as teachers of English are not at all trained in teaching special needs pupils. Taking part in this course provides a wonderful opportunity for Mrs. Leitner and everybody she will share her new knowledge with to get some insight in the British system of special needs teaching, to talk to equal international colleagues and learn new methodologies to develop the listening and speaking skills of these special pupils.objectives of our project: In our school system special needs pupils are taught not with the official curriculum but with an adapted curriculum for special needs pupils which identifies them as special needs pupils in their final reports. Our aim is to annul this special need factor within the time they are at our school to enable them to a fully acceptable final school report by the time they withdraw from NMS. This will open doors to other schools and to taking on an apprenticeship. As in year 8 all pupils have to undergo Bildungsstandards exams in speaking, listening, writing and reading it is our aim to help special needs pupils to get good results as well.profile of participant: BEd Leitner Michaela is a teacher of English, PE and Computer Technology, she has worked in the teaching business for more than 19 years now. She spent one year in Yorkshire where she worked as a foreign language assistant. Mrs. Leitner is a highly motivated, eager learning, communicative and creative person.description of activities: ISP offers a course for teachers of English to pupils with special needs which provides its participants with motivating material for creative developing of listening and speaking skills. It also offers the possibility to visit schools with an opportunity to observe lessons with integrated special needs pupils, kooperative learning, correction and feedback strategies, the use of new technologies, TPR activities, role plays, storytelling strategies and CLIL.methodology to be used in carrying out the project: ISL has received a registration form and Mrs. Leitner has been registered for the course (this has been confirmed in a telephone call). My colleague has received details and information about the course. Being absent from school for 2 weeks will not cause any problems as all of Mrs. Leitner's lessons will be covered by supply teachers.short description of the results and impact invisaged/potential longer term benefits: As head of school I expect from the course new ideas and strategies in connection with special needs pupils in heterogenic classes in English lessons. I am very keen to see improvement in the listening and speaking skills of these pupils in hinsight of a fully acceptable final school report and a positive result in the Bildungsstandards exams. In the long term we want to support these pupils to get a real chance in their lives, being it an apprenticeship or another school. I would like to increase the level English of our special needs pupils. After the 2 week course Mrs. Leitner plans to exchange the new materials with her colleagues and with teachers from the other schools mentioned in D.
