Zukunft: Europäisches Handeln
Date du début: 1 juin 2015, Date de fin: 31 mai 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The Georg Simon Ohm Berufskolleg continues to anchor the European idea in its daily procedures. The aim should be to transform the college into a European School. We want to build the main pillars which support the European School by acquiring further skills achieved in additional European projects. The European dimension also helps to increases the popularity of the school in the region. Thus, it is important that the following measures will be implemented. "Creative Teaching in the Adult Classroom", with the main objective of improving the linguistic core competencies and the acquisition of innovative methodology. "Fluency and English Language Development for Teachers" with the emphasis on communication skills. "EUROPEAN intercultural competences', highlights the different themes of interculturalism. And finally, "Social Media Masterclass - Curation " the study of different social media platforms and its suitability for the TFL classroom. For recruitment, it was essential for the participants to show their interest in promoting further EU-projects at school. Furthermore, they were asked to organize a project for the classroom which promotes their newly learnt skills acquired on the further education courses. For preparation, participants will study the recommended reading lists and links. During the process of courses communication with one another is maintained through online media. Once the measures have been implemented evaluations are carried out at different levels to diagnose the achievements of new skills. The project will find attention via various media. Thus, the spirit of interculturalism will be experienced. This competence is communicated among the staff in order to create synergies and to motivate other colleagues to participate in the internationalization of projects. Such projects are carried out in-house. In addition, an improvement of European education quality can be increased regionally and internationally with a link to further vocational colleges in the region and with the integration of acquired contacts abroad. This should overcome resentment and fear towards “strangers” and what will strengthen the tolerance within a multicultural society and across national borders. In addition, colleagues will be motivated to embed their expertise in an authentic European context. Non-language teachers should feel motivated to teach some of their lessons in a foreign language. The high quality of language competence at our school will be strengthened. Three English teachers and a non-language teacher will be part of the courses. The new acquired contacts from abroad should lead to effective ways of teaching English as a foreign language innovatively. Students will learn foreign languages apprehensively and from a realistic angle, which increases their motivation to learn English and equally promotes their self-confidence to use the foreign language as a "lingua franca" beyond national borders. Furthermore, these methods will motivate students and foster their ability for self-organized work processes. This competence is a clearly defined standard in the international world of work. Participating in the project strengthens the competence "new media in the classroom". The internet provides a great potential for acquiring and preserving knowledge. Social media networking is an essential part of our students' life. Using social media in or beyond the classroom as part of a "blended learning" concept could be a great chance of increasing students' motivation in learning. Social media also enable students to communicate with young people of other countries and learn about their education and training, encouraging them to study or work abroad. When students use social media for intercultural networking the European dimension becomes an everyday part of their lives. The increase in competence mentioned above also helps the students to get prepared for the European labour market. School has to prepare the students for a life abroad and motivate them to participate in intercultural relations, learn foreign languages and prepare for the requirements of the European labour market. Through these methods the number of internships abroad can be increased and the enriched attitude towards the European Union increases the popularity of the school in the region.
