Zombieland Europe - learning from the Undead for a sustainable Europe
Date du début: 3 oct. 2016, Date de fin: 2 janv. 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

“The purpose of Man’s life is to become an abject zombie who serves a purpose he does not know, for reasons he is not to question.” Only occasionally they hear shuffling footsteps on the wooden floorboards above them. Just a few centimeters of wood seperate the dead from the living. A dead worse than life. And from time to time there is this threatening, loud silence – disrupted by these throaty hiss of undead voices:„Braaaaaaaiiiiiinn…ssss!“What if... What if the Zombie-Apocalypse really had happened? What if Europe would lay waste, because the population would suffer from a virus and most of the people would wander a ravaged continent as living deads? While we – the last ones standing – are desperately striving for a little order in society, culture and social life. Surrounded by creatures, that have only one goal – to eat our brains, bodies and with this…our lives. In a Europe which now needs to reinvent itself, we get together with the participants to look for ways and possibilities to escape from the Apocalypse (back) into the shaping of an active life, which seems completely out of joint. Terrorism, capitalism, media discourse. Freedom and heteronomy, nihilism, capitalism, flight, racism and revolution. These and other terms we will fill with undead life to throw a new perspective on the world and its (non-)functions.The idea of an „Open-court-philosophy-project“ is in the nature of things. Zombies have gained influence and attention in pop culture. Series and movies are dealing with societies that are run by zombie viruses in apocalyptic futures. The genre is successful and young people are familiar with it. Let us approach this subject, to be led away into other topics and find new content that lets us entry brand new political and social issues. An interesting question will be whether and how far we are all stuck in this zombie metamorphosis. What about our consciousness? Are we still active and formative members of society or are we also silently and helplessly torn away from it and directed in ways?In this exceptional international project we are working intensively with an enourmos range of themes and ideas from the Zombie-research. In addition there will be a wide variety of methods and creative analysis possibilities of analogue cultural and digital spaces.
