Date du début: 1 juil. 2014, Date de fin: 30 juin 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Wojciech Korfanty Bilingual Junior High School in Mysłowice is one of 254 Polish bilingual secondary schools operating in Poland ( as per the data from of 1.09.2013). Our project entitled “Content Language and Integrated Learning : a Chance and a Challenge for a Modern School” was a response to the ever-changing reality of the contemporary world. Modern education promotes foreign language methodology that shape up the autonomous thinking, judgement and action in conjunction with the skill of responsible social activity. Not only does CLIL improve the language and subject skills, but within its specificity it also rises the key competences. CLIL is an effective tool designed to put into effect the language policy set forth in a European Council document entitled „Common European Framework of References for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment ”, which strongly promotes multilingualism and intercultural competence. These, on the other hand, are the natural added value of Content Language and Integrated Learning. The others include, inter alia : a broader context for subject content, opportunity to see the subject from a different perspective, an access to wider range of foreign language vocabulary and better preparation for professional work and studies in the future. The aim of our Project was to build up the proffessional competences of school staff : foreign languages teachers, management and administrative staff. Each participant attended at least one of the following courses: " European Projects Management”, "CLIL : Content and Language Integrated Learning", "Managing and Developing Self and Others”. The main areas of the Project included: foreign languages teaching and learning, new innovative curricula and methodology, and international cooperation. According to school strategy, the expected results included: improvement of the quality of work through new innovative curricula and methodology, as well as school promotion through broader CLIL subject proposals. The international projects provided a source of good practice exchange and resulted in fruitful school cooperation. The improvement of school curricula and methodology, as well as international cooperation brought positive changes to our school on the European level. The management and administration courses allowed the definition of professional school staff development priorities consequently leading to the fulfillment of strategy. The participants of the Project disseminated its results in an attempt to promote CLIL and to draw attention to the urgent need to define its role and place in Polish educational system.
