YW-Dare to act! A Practical Guide for Non Violence Action
Date du début: 1 juin 2015, Date de fin: 31 juil. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

This TC will cover different types of conflicts taking place in different settings and consequently entail different ways of transforming conflicts by non-violent actions. Our emphasis is placed on fostering a positive and constructive debate on recent conflicts in Europe and cooperation particurly aimed at the youth field. This is done by promoting non-violent approaches aimed at activities in peace-building. Moreover, young leaders will discuss the significance of youth participation at grass-roots level peace-building initiatives. The trainers and invited experts will share practical and theoretical knowledge in their fields, through plenary sessions, discussions, workshops, creativity sessions, intercultural & interactive exercises and other non-formal educational ways of interacting and working. Essential throughout the TC is the input and experience sharing brought forth by the participants. The background of the project outline is existing regional conflicts in Eastern Europe and Caucasus and the increasing tensions within many EU countries with regards to i.a. nationalism and racism. Viewing the post-soviet context with frozen and hot conflicts in Transnistria (Moldova), the Crimea Peninsula (Ukraine), Abkhazia, Southern Ossetia (Georgia), Chechnia (Russian Federation), and Nagorny-Karabakh, conflict management and peace building are obviously among the most important issues also for young people. In Western Europe racism, xenophobia and racial discrimination are growing, not only in traditional countries with immigrant groups like Norway, Sweden and Greece, but all across Europe. We include examples of national populism in Poland, tension between Russian and Estonians in Estonia, and the Muhammed caricatures in France and Denmark. All the above stated illustrates the importance of youth work in the areas of peace building, conflict transformation, human rights education and anti-discrimination. As a result, the projects aims at introducing new initiatives and strategies for youth inclusion and active involvement of young people in projects dealing with conflicts on the international, national and local levels. Young people will have to be playing a major role in the solution of existing conflicts and tensions between communities, and can take a leading role in promoting peace, establishing links between conflicting groups and parties, and vhanging frozen conflicts by constructive dialogues through applying innovative methods all across Europe.
