youTurn - Young directions for Alpine Municipalities
Date du début: 1 juin 2016, Date de fin: 31 mai 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Between February 2016 and March 2017 “youTurn” gathers young people, youth workers and political and administrative representatives of seven municipalities in the Alps. The project wants to empower young people to actively take part in political decision making on a local level and to engage in communal life. Furthermore, youTurn aims at promoting cooperation and knowledge transfer on youth participation across the municipal, regional and national boundaries. The projects objectives are to gather good practices in youth participation, to exchange experience and, inspired by this exchange, to jointly implement a concrete project in every municipality. Thereby municipal youth policy will be strengthened and young people will be motivated to get active. Every municipality will participate in the project with a delegation of four young people between 15 and 18 years as well as one political representative and one youth worker or administrative representative who is in charge of youth matters in the municipality. The delegations will be accompanied by coaches on youth participation and communication throughout the project. All participants will meet twice during the project for an international meeting. In June 2016 youth and adults will present their municipality and its participation policy and practice in a creative way. The delegations will furthermore tell of successful projects that have already been implemented and will thereby learn about concrete initiatives in youth participation as well as other cultural backgrounds. Inspired by this first meeting, the delegations will return to their municipalities to develop their own project idea and to work on the framework for its implementation. In the end, the partners will meet again to talk about success stories as well as barriers they encountered and they will present their projects to the public. Sustainability as thematic focus: We have learned in past projects that participation is best experienced in connection with a specific topic. The young people will therefore practice participation in a thematically defined framework. Young people are the adults of tomorrow and they will live in our environment for many decades to come. If it ought to be a good life, it is necessary to deal with resources in a sustainable way. The concept of sustainability will accompany the young people throughout the project. At the beginning of youTurn the partners will agree on a concrete and specific sustainability topic – for example nature conservation, sustainable mobility, regional economics and regional products or climate protection.
