Youth Replicating Innovative Strategies and Excellence in HIV/AIDS prevention
Date du début: 1 sept. 2009,
According to UNAIDS estimates, around 2.2 million people were living with HIV in Europe and Central Asia at the end of 2007. Estimated HIV prevalence varies from below 0.1% in parts of Central Europe to above 1% in parts of the Eastern Europe and Caucasus. Against this background our partners are deliberately chosen to come from some of the most vulnerable to HIV/AIDS countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine. Their partners from Czech Republic, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain and the UK are coming from countries that are experienced in HIV and AIDS education and prevention. This 5 working days training course will bring together youth workers, volunteer coordinators of youth NGO's and project supervisors of current and future EVS host organisations in the field of HIV/AIDS prevention from the EU and EECA countries to empower them to network and engage in innovative partnerships around youth projects in framework of the Youth in Action Programme. Participants will be trained on the context specific situation of HIV/AIDS education in EU and EECA countries, as well as on the practical aspects of developing and managing youth projects in framework of the Youth in Action Programme. They will also learn from best practice examples in linking trans-national volunteering programmes to HIV/AIDS prevention work. The expected results are: participants' heightened sensitivity of the contribution of international volunteering for HIV/AIDS prevention and care work; stronger motivating of youth NGO's and HIV/AIDS projects to network and work together in framework of the Youth in Action Programme; and an increased number of theme-related projects (EVS, Youth exchanges, trainings, job shadowing, development of the publications and etc), whereby the participating organizations will function with the aim to promote community service, volunteer work, youth projects and the importance of healthy living as educational opportunities for young people in the respective communities in the HIV/AIDS education and prevention.
