YMC(H)A main activities are the renovation works of sports infrastructure owned by the University of Rilski and the construction works of a Sports Museum in Thessaloniki, providing to the potential users of every age, athletes or not, the facilities and challenges of ICTs developed within the project. Moreover, dissemination activities such as the sports festival, the seminar on museology, basketball tournament, conference "Basket Nowadays" and the openings in Thessaloniki and in Blagoevgrad, form an essential part of the project for its impression to the wider public. Achievements: Results and impactWithin the Project implementation a Sports museum was established in Thessaloniki providing ICT technologies; sports facilities and a Biometric centre were renovated at the premises of both partners, basketball and street-ball tournaments and a sports festival were carried out as well as educative seminars and events on museology, voluntarism and social inclusion, international conference for sports promotion, educational programme beyond traditional education, publications.BenefitsModern facilities for sports were created. More tools for innovative sports education were established with the construction of the Sports Museum that exhibits the past, present and future of sports exploiting the comparative advantages of the neighbouring countries. The involvement of policymakers in the educational and promotiona events provided for the exchange of good practices for the development of methodological tools that enhance cultural and athletic elements and suggested new approaches and reforms in the relevant fields.TestimonialsThe impact of YMC(H)A will be sustained across the EU. Intensifying regional cooperation in sports promotion and education.DistinctionThe World Summit of Information Society (WSIS) Project Prizes Contest: http://groups.itu.int/stocktaking/WSISProjectPrizes.aspx#home that took place in end of May in Geneva represents an ideal platform for identifying and showcasing success stories and models that can be easily replicated, empowering communities at the local level, giving an opportunity to stakeholders to participate in the contest and in particular recognizing the efforts of stakeholders in terms of value they add to society. In 2015, 300 projects were nominated for the WSIS Prize 2015 contest and only 18 Projects (one for each category) were selected as the most successful stories worldwide to serve as best practice models. YMC(H)A Project was awarded in the category «Cultural diversity and identity, linguistic diversity and local content». This unique mark of global recognition for excellence was widely publicized.
