YOUTH.INFO - Peer-to-Peer in Youth Information Work
Date du début: 1 août 2014, Date de fin: 1 août 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Long-term project 'YOUTH.INFO - Peer-to-peer in the youth information work' is a follow-up of NGO Creativitas initiative for international YIntro training in 2013 November. In the training we noticed, that in countries, where youth information and counselling is making the first steps and is not well recognized (lack of political, financial support) we need to look for other ways and forms how to approach young people and ensure information and counseling service. We also noticed that organisations working in this field for many years use peer-to-peer methods to empower youngsters to inform their peers about topics that they matter about and at the same time open unlimited opportunities for their personal development. We invited 7 partners from Luxembourg, Portugal, Lithuania, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Estonia, in total 24 participants to join a new type of training format, where both 1) youth information workers and 2) their volunteers/youth leaders come together and simultaneously discover the potential of using peer-to-peer education from both perspectives. National group involves 2/4 participants per country (1 youth information worker, 1 peers/volunteer or 2 youth info worker and 2 peers/volunteers). Dates: 2015 (Training course - first week of March, 2015; evaluation meeting – June 2015). Place: Vilnius region, Lithuania Objectives of the long-term training course project: - to improve quality of youth information work and expand the variety of methods used to deliver youth information and counseling service - to provide youth information workers with competences needed for motivating, organizing, facilitating and mentoring peer-to-peer groups in youth information and counseling work - to empower youngsters to recognize information needs of their peers and provide them with skills to implement different informing and counseling activities We foreseen the project to have impact on local and regional and European level both for participants and organisations by: - increased quality of youth information service and developed new ways of providing this service by involving peers; - opportunities created for young people to be actively involve in peer-to-peer education work and improve their personal knowledge and skills of YIW service delivery; - a wider volume of more informed young people at the local level within information that is relevant to them; - better outreach of young people with YIW service in the region; - the proposed recommendations and conclusions might lead to policy change and further development of peer-to-peer education practices in YIW; - developed further cooperation between the network, possible future ideas for common activities and follow-up.
