Youth Eco Summer

Youth exchange "Youth Eco Summer" (YES) hosted by AUAFYC "Alternative-V" aims at bringing together young people from 10 countries for exploring topics of sustainable development and eco-friendly lifestyle. The project will be held on 06-19 of July, 2014 in Donetsk, Ukraine. Total duration of the project, including travel days, is 14 days. We expect 7 participants from each country (including 1 group leader). Ukrainian group as a hosting side will consist of 6 young people and 3 group leaders. Main objective as defined by the organizers is to raise awareness of young people about the importance of being environmentally friendly in every day life by changing our daily routines which in the end will have an impact on the ecological situation. Through a series of workshops, educational excursions, discussions participants will familiarize themselves with the most effective and wide-spread techniques of protecting environment in their home countries. And as the next step they will be offered to share this knowledge with young people from the local community of Donetsk and Donetsk region. During the project participants will implement a number of initiatives involving locals aiming at raising awareness about ecological situation and ways to improve it. Participants will not only deepen their knowledge about eco-friendly lifestyle but also will be part of unique multicultural team, which will enable them to develop better understanding of other nationalities. During project following methods and activities of non-formal education will be implemented: getting-to-know-each-other, ice-breaking and team-building games, games and quizzes on environmental protection, European awareness and human rights; learning and teaching some easy tips of eco-friendly lifestyle, intercultural evenings and discovering the environment through outdoor activities. Participants will learn how to say YES to going green and saving natural wealth for future generations.
