Youth Climate Transition Dialogue
Date du début: 1 janv. 2016, Date de fin: 31 déc. 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Youth Climate Transition Dialogue is a cooperation and learningprocess between young people from Denmark and Sweden, which focuses on climate, democracy, culture and language. During two processes of half a year each, about 80 young participants aged 13-14 years are titled Climate Transition Agents. The Climate Transition Agent aspirants come from different public schools in both Malmö and Copenhagen. They are selected after writing applications showing their motivation to participate. The Youth Climate Transition Dialogue process consists of five meetings, of which the first four are preparatory meetings and the final is a final dialogue with decision makers. The five meetings will all perish outside of school to make sure no one is “at home” and to give young people the opportunity to assume new roles. The meetings will differ from a traditional school day for the youngsters. The process is based on different ways of involvement, where the young Climate Transition Agents develop their acting skills and new project tools. At the preparatory meetings, focus will be to provide young people with the necessary knowledge about climate and democracy. The dialogue with the decision makers requires that young people become good communicators, skills that will be very useful in their future adult life. Through the interaction with the surrounding society outside of their school, the young people will see new opportunities for future education and work in the whole Sound area. The entire process is organized so that they get well prepared to organize and conclude a dialogue with decision makers. The decision makers that have already shown their interest in participating are local politicians, European Green Capital Network and companies that deal with climate solutions. The final decision makers are selected based on whether they affect the future sustainable development and are willing to enter into a constructive dialogue with young people to develop new policies or the implementation of various climate solutions. In the dialogue with the Climate Transition Agents, the decision makers will gain new perspectives in their policy development and new input on solutions to the climate challenges we face. Decision makers will achieve important knowledge about what motivates young people to deal with climate issues and help create a sustainable society. A knowledge they can use also outside the project. The teaching methods in the process support the Climate Transition Agents taking on the responsibility of the development and implementation of the final dialogue with decision makers. The Climate Transition Agents will not be taught by teachers, but facilitated by advisors and mentors. The twice repeated process will include training for 10 mentors in a mentor program. They will support, guide and act as role models and mentors for the Climate Transition Agents. In the mentoring program, the mentors will gain skills in communication to the target group, knowledge about climate and tools for facilitation. Both the mentors and the Climate Transition Agents will of course gain knowledge about global climate challenge and how they can be handled locally. Knowledge about climate will be given by Concito - Denmark's green think tank.An important objective of the project is that Climate Transition Agents already at a young age have a positive experience from being involved and listened to in questions concerning the development of society. Young people are the future and it is important they see their opportunity to participate actively in the democratic life. The Youth Climate Transition Dialogue process will be performed twice, with a joint evaluation after their conclusion. The first process runs from February to June 2016 and the second process runs from February to June 2017. The rationale for running two processes with different stakeholders is a desire to investigate how young people can achieve the greatest impact on creating a sustainable future - their future.
