Around 15% of the world population have a disability. One fourth of people in Turkey are also disabled. And still thousands of people are getting disabled every day meaning that the disability can occur to anyone. Although it is this much important to the society but yet nobody showing enough effort is our main reason to make this project and take attention to this sitution. Purposes : We would like to use an international perspevtive on our main purpose of founding this group “to raise awareness for disabled ones” . We want to learn what other countries do and what kind of cautions they take about this situation. Besides we want to learn the cultures of participating countries and make interaction to remove prejudices between participants. We will deny the discrimination and provide sexual equality. We want to do the activities within the non-formal education tekniques and have active participating of the participants. We want to dissaminate the Erasmus+ program. Plus we want our participants to download their own important YOUTHPASS certificate and make sure it is done the way it was designed. Profile of the participants:The Prejudice Is The Biggest Handicap project is being done by our organization. Each country have 7, Turkey having 10 aged between 17-25 and in total 38 people will participate. Project will take place in Mersin on dates between 07.03.2016-14.03.2016. Participating countries are : Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovakia and Turkey. Definition of the activities :Theatre activity will be place as if silent cinema and there will be 5 games from 5 different groups. For this theatre, there will be workshops in activity days seperately. These theatres will be played in Mersin University saloon and public people&students will be invited. In Ramp activity, we will build a ramp in the beach through the sea and make sure disabled people wont have much of a difficulties. Sign language and Braille alphabet will be learnt by every day activities and will have participants to be actively working. So we want participants to learn this languge a bit and have more people in society to help on the disabled people.Cultural activities will be held everyday and fairy-tales,legends, songs and dances of countries will be introduced. Team building games will be done with mixed groups and we will provide our participants to destroy the prejudices between each other that way.Every country will have 2 participants with limited sources and that will provide opportunity equality.We will have short breaks between activities for allowing our participants to chat with each other. With the grafiti activity project will be dissaminated even better and participants will have a skill of hand craftmanship.With the blinfolded & taboo games, participants are expected to raise the ability of making empathy and their creativity.Methods and Ways All activities will be done with informal education methods. That way the impression will be permanent and targets will be reached easier. We will use role playing, learning by doing, active learning, q&a method, drama teknique, creative thinking, presentation and discover way of learnings and such methods. Expected results and impressions :We expect oru participants to : be responsible for the problems of disabled people, have confidence, respect to our cultures, have no prejudices, make no discrimination, believe in sexual equality, willing to do volunteer work for disabled, to know about their problems, to make researches inoder to disaminate erasmus+. Benefits in long term :To make sure more young people to use benefits of erasmus+, target group aged between 17-30 to volunteer for more workshops, have more volunteers willing to work for more people to learn about sign language and braille alphabet, increase the works about the disabled people and raise awareness of them on people who are not disabled and having those people to be useful for disabled people by doing various of workshops at the same time.
