Date de fin: 1 févr. 2017
The project "Youngsters on the move" will last 18 months, while volunteers’ activities will last 10 months (from September 1st 2015 to June 30th 2016). Volunteers will support two institutions :Center for Autism and Special School No. 11 in Krakow.
The main objectives of the project "Youngsters on the move" is to support people with disabilities, enable the acquisition of new skills by young people and raise awareness about the problem of migration today and thereby encourage young people to debate on current social issues.
Referring to the ongoing "Year of development aid," and now the dramatic situation of immigrants in the Mediterranean Sea we also want the volunteers to work on the problem of migration. Especially migration of people from poorer countries and refugees, and accompanying this issue of human rights violations
Volunteers are Mario from Spain and Romana from Ukraine who will work at the Center for Autism. Malin from Sweden, Mouslim and Flavi from France, Nives from Spain together with Tatiana and Ira from Ukraine will be volunteering at the Special School Complex No. 11.
In the Centre for Autism volunteers will work with children and youth with autism. This institutions is a facility dedicated to education, therapy and education of children and youth with autism and related disorders. The core activity of volunteers at the Center for Autism will focus on the ongoing assistance during the course.
In Special School No. 11 volunteers will be assisting teachers and therapist in the classroom and will work with children and youth with different types of intellectual and physical disabilities. The facility consists of primary and middle schools, high schools, where students with different levels of intellectual disability learn how to function in everyday life.
The project will allow all engaged beneficiaries to understand better the problems of disabled people and to treat them in the spirit of dignity and respect towards human dignity. On the other hand, it will allow reflection on the different sides of mobility – the forced one in the form of migration, as well as the boundaries for mobility and participation that people with disabilities face. On the long run, volunteers engaged in the project will develop an attitude of tolerance, openness and understanding toward people facing social and physical problems, which will enable them to raise voice with awareness in the public debate concerning issues relevant for them.
