Young veterinary asistents in Europe
Date du début: 1 juin 2016, Date de fin: 31 mai 2018 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The project “Young veterinary assistants in Europe“ is focused on mobility of pupils in vocational education and training when pupils held professional practices directly in companies abroad. Students of the Secondary Veterinary School in Hradec Králové studying in the third and fourth grade of “VETERINARY“ field of study, including the new orientation of veterinary technician lab assistant are the aim group of the project. Their specific need within the framework of the project is to obtain practical skills and experience in their studied subject outside the Czech Republic, in different professional and social conditions. The main aim of the project is an enrichment of knowledge and experience in their both professional and personal growth. Graduates of educational stays have a better possibility of their enforcement in EU countries. Our aim is to increase gradually the number of students who realize their practice abroad. Another important aim is to enable the academically and socially weaker students to take part in these foreign educational stages and to encourage the young people´s interest in their studies and professional work. Graduates of educational stays get a certificate from the place of their practice and the document called “Europass – mobility“, concurrently their stay is implemented and valued in accordance with the principles of ECVET.In the framework of our project there will be 8 terms of educational stays – 2 terms in Slovakia, 2 in Italy, 1 in Greece, Portugal, Poland and Spain. Each term will have 6 participants (48 altogether) and it will last for 2 weeks, at distant locations we have to add 1 – 2 days for the journey. One accompanying teacher will go together with our students (the teacher will stay for 4 days in Slovakia, for 7 days in Poland; in the other countries he/she will spend the whole educational stay with the participants) – to help students with accommodation, to keep contact with an intermediary organization, to provide communication with partners, to solve financial and organizational matters, etc.Spain is a new partner for us. All the others have been our permanent partners for a long time – since the previous mobility periods. The main general workload of our students in all the destinations is the job of veterinary technician – vet assistant during various preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. The cooperation with the Slovak veterinary school has been lasting since 2005, and the Slovak students also go through their educational stays within the mobility projects at us. Our students will go through their practice at two modern veterinary workplaces - including the Veterinary University in Košice. The cooperation with our Italian partner continues experience from the previous projects, too. Our students have a possibility to go through their educational stays according to their choice in various types of vet clinics, laboratories, vet surgeries for livestock, farms with organic farming and agricultural tourism, in slaughter-houses and animal shelters. Four workplaces are contracted nowadays. In Greece workplaces will be provided especially in 2 vet surgeries. The first one guarantees care for small animals including a laboratory, hospital, beauty salon and a pet shop. The second clinic provides care for small animals as well and moreover they take care of both stray and abandoned animals and farm animals. Our Polish partner is the school associating agricultural and veterinary fields and last year they provided practice in the clinic of care for small animals for us.In Portugal our students will work according to their preferences either in a clinic for small animals or with vets who provide care for big farm animals, especially cattle. In Spain we have obtained a little bit different type of the educational stay – we have established contact with an organization which will help us to employ our students in a asylum center for dogs and cats, which is a really attractive and desired activity mainly for girls. They will be incorporated into all work activities including the care and veterinary treatment. Simultaneously our students will improve their knowledge of foreign languages, especially English, which is considered to be the chief linking language. They can learn to communicate in the original language of the country where they stay, too, because of everyday contact with ordinary people - animal owners. It is necessary for at least a minimal number of students to get experience with staying in linguistically, culturally and professionally different setting. They will spread their knowledge and experience acquired abroad among their schoolmates and in this way they will be able to contribute to a higher motivation for both professional and foreign languages studies. A very important part of our project is publication of results in mass media for the general public. The project is planned as biennial, from June 2016 to 31 st May 2018.
