Date du début: 1 août 2015,
Date de fin: 31 déc. 2016
EVS project "Yes, UNESCO, Yes" will take a place in Cieszyn, HO is Serfenta Association. We would like to host two volunteers (one Czech, one Spanish) for a period of 12 month, starting from july 2015. Hosting organization decided to host volunteers from Czech Republic and Spain to enlarge intercultural dimension. Volunteer will be in daily touch with locals (mostly polish and czech youth), so they will get know each other in unformal environment. Volunteer will also have the opportunity to organize meetings about their own country or to organize lessons of their native language.
We want our volunteer to became part of local community, so local people can practicaly learn how great and rich is cultural
diversity, how is important to be tolerant and how wrong are our prejudices.
The volunteers will be involved in the current projects of the Serfenta Association. Serfenta develops towards the protection of traditional occupations, for couple of years has been concentrated on the basketry. The volunteers will realize our goal, which are: practical protection of crafts, especially basketry, increased interest in issues of cultural heritage, revival of the environment centred around the craft: manufacturers, scientists, artists as well as providing a platform for future cooperation, opening up new prospects for promotion of crafts.
− support in realization of current projects in the Association
− contacts with our partners and collaborators from abroad, searching new partners
− coorganization the Forum „Social Face of Basketry” during the 3rd World Wicker and Weaving Festival in Nowy Tomyśl
− collecting best practices concerning phenomena and objects from around the world already inscribed on the UNESCO List Intangible Cultural Heritage
− helping in writing a project bids in the theme of basketry and intangible cultural heritage (for example the project “Basketry without borders” for Central Europe Development Fund)
− participation in creation and implementation of a campaign for the intangible cultural heritage – basketry – led within the context of the UNESCO Convention for the safeguarding of the intangible cultural heritage
− promotion of the Association's basketry exhibition “Viva Basket!” among museum and another institutions in Europe
− realize another tasks connected to the Serfenta's strategy of revitalizing basketry as a field of craft
− promotion of the european volunteering in the local community
Through our project volunteer will:
- learn tolerance and get know what does it mean to be minority and how it is to be in the middle of different culture
- learn to be independent (they will be may be for the first time abroad without family or friends)
- learn new skills and get practice in work with kids/youth
- learn Polish language and improve communication skills
By learning new skills and new language he/she will get better opportunities to find new job
Through our project local community will:
- get know other culture by meeting in unformal situations
- learn tolerance, cooperation and comunication with someone from different culture
- learn about different country
- have opportunity to learn new language.
We would like our volunteer to prepare at the end of their staying a short brochure about their EVS, with instructions and advices
for future volunteers.
Volunteer will get Youth Pass at the end of their EVS.
First of all the proposed EVS project clearly fosters young people sense of European Citizenship, in the meaning that it allows
the volunteer to take initiatives, experience culturally others and raise awareness about themselves. Due to the 12 months EVS
placement, many stereotypes about Poland and Polish culture should disappear from the mentallity of the youth workers
and youth. As for overcoming long lasting narrow minded ideas about a nation, the best way is to meet, deal and interrelate
with the people form this nation. Hosting organization decided to host volunteers from Czech Republic and Spain to enlarge intercultural dimension. Volunteer will be in daily touch with locals (mostly polish and czech youth), so they will get know each other in unformal environment.
Volunteer will also have the opportunity to organize meetings about their own country or to organize lessons of their native
language. We want our volunteer to became part of local community, so local people can practicaly learn how great and rich is cultural diversity, how is important to be tolerant and how wrong are our prejudices.
