In the scope of "Development of Adult Education Staff in Local Governments" Project, 24 municipality adult education staff will attend the following courses as hosted by the Amber Initiatives Organization for 12 months(), and thus it will be ensured that they are reinforced for creating environments wherein all the rights are practiced for everyone with the equal opportunity principle beginning from their own working environment. Following the project, meetings and workshops will be organized to enable the 24 personnel who were involved in the project to share their experience, and spreading the new perspectives and capabilities throughout the organization will be supported.
- Course for Addressing Diversity and Equality in Local Governments on December 2015

This training aims to help adult education institutions create and sustain a welcoming and inclusive environment for learners from all backgrounds and ensure equal access for all.
- European Mobility on January 2016
Number of participants: 8
Course duration: 10 days
The course aims to describe and analyse the main characteristics of different categories of migrants, with a special focus on background and development aspects. The course takes into account forced migration and labour migration as well as additional resources a supporting organisation should have, and the benefits of partnership working between stakeholders working in different fields.
Through a combination of methodology sessions, case studies, practical activities in the field, the participants will examine the critical role of adult education centres to help migrants in their process of settlement.
Participants will get an insight into a range of issues affecting migrant families and explore ways to address the multitude of barriers they may face.
This course uses a wide variety of communicative activities to develop language competence as well as introducing practical and creative ideas to provide assistance which is the most needed.
Modules include:
- Different types of migrants: exiled migrants, labour migrants and other types.
- Barriers to inclusion that migrants may face
- Challenges of local authority and education establishments when dealing with migrants families
- Successful approaches to increasing their qualification.
- Critical relationship between educational establishments and NGOs in supporting those from migrant background
- Visits to local education establishment and city council
- Practical activities in the field related to the participants’ setting: analyse of education institution’s capacity and target group, barriers and ways to overcome them. Development of strategic approach.
- Course on the Prohibition on Discrimination on March 2016
Number of participants: 8
Course duration: 10 days
The participants will explore the meaning of prejudice and discrimination in broader terms, to include sex, race, disability and age, will also explore how prejudice and discrimination impacts on development, health and mental health of people as well as they will
develop techniques in anti-discriminatory practice for adult education settings.
Other modules include:
-Awareness of socially excluded groups
- Understanding of the EU legislation and UK Equality Act (2010) as a way to comply with EU regulations
-Implementation of strategy for both prevention and intervention of discrimination
- Support for those at the receiving end ( i.e. support of disadvantaged group and their empowerment to tackle issues of discrimination)
An interactive learning process will take place during the project and particularly in conducting the courses. Moreover, the courses comprise assessment works, case studies, field works and visitations to the municipality and to organizations working in the respective area.
The programme is designed in accordance with the objectives and the identified needs of participants. During the life of the project itself, the programme will be continuously (or further) adapted according to participants’ needs, expectations and the evaluation of activity. The participants will be involved in all stages of the project: design, preparation, promotion, evaluation, follow up and dissemination of results.
