YE - Young Nordic Filmmakers Exchange
Date du début: 1 sept. 2016, Date de fin: 31 mars 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Young Nordic Filmmakers Exchange is based on the experience and former collaboration of the project partners Nordic Youth Film Festival (NUFF), the Nordic Film Days Lübeck, the Oulu International Children’s and Youth Film Festival and Station Next. The project is using the professional arenas of the Nordic Film Days Lübeck and Tromsø International Film Festival as background for the exchange of young film interested people from four different European countries. The project wants to encourage young people to engage in creative networking beyond borders with a long term value by using film as a tool to express themselves and to tell their own stories.During two exchange meetings in two different European cities and during two important professional film festivals the young participants are making films from the idea to the finished film in one week. Here they will learn to develop a better understanding for working as a team based on a democratic and equal process with a focus on freedom of speech, which shall enrich the regional youth cultural diversity and to strengthen the awareness of the right for young people to express themselves. The participants are 16 - 21 years old with a 50% gender balance. The young people are part of their local environments of the partner organizations and have been involved in the development of the project. Each partner will sent one youth participant to the preparation meeting in September 2016 in Lübeck, where they in particular will take care of the needs and wishes of the young participants from the different countries. The participants are recruited by their organization. They are users of the programs on film-making the different organizations are offering. They will bring basic knowledge and skills in film-making, media, storytelling etc. Their motivation of participating is in general to exchange ideas and build international network. After the preparation meeting in Lübeck in September 2016 the first exchange will be in early November 2016 in Lübeck, Germany. The participants will develop in groups 4 short documentary films based on the topic "Migration - a new European challenge?” They will be trained in aspects of documentary film-making by two professional filmmakers as media educators. The results will be screened at the festival in public screening. After the first exchange the participants have the task to develop film ideas for fictional short-films at their local organization. The workshop leaders will mentor this process Online. This process will prepare the next group exchange with the same participants and workshop leaders in Tromsø, Norway.During the Tromsø International Film Festival in January 2017 the participants will work in 4 group and complete 4 short-films, which will be presented at the end of the festival to the audience. All results will be published Online after the project. The methods the project will use are based on “Learning by Doing”. After short introductions and practical trainings the participants will mainly work independently mentored by two professional filmmakers. From the idea to the finish film in one week has been improved by NUFF & TVIBIT in 15 years of workshops with young people and will be the ground to carry out this project on.The envisaged results will be 8 short films made by 16 young people from 4 different European countries telling their own perspective on the challenge of migration in Europe. We expect the young people to acquire competences and grow as individuals, through the learning methods in the workshops. Making a film from the idea to the finished result will increased self-empowerment and self-esteem.The potential for long term benefits is well-founded in the sound collaboration of the partner organizations and for the young people the project offers a solid network for co-operation in the future. The exchanged suppose to be counted in the future and probably implement other countries and new partners using the experience and methods of the project.
