PROJET
TERMINÉ
This project is the outcome of challenges and objectives a working group came up with during a PBA hosted by the Norwegian National Agency. The initial idea group discovered that we had a shared interest in a theme of discrimination, how, why and against whom it arises, and most importantly, how we can create a culture among young people to be a force against discrimination.Recent years in Europe have seen a deep financial crisis which has led many people to relocate to other places to find more and new opportunities. This migration has become one of the great tests of the European project of integration. At the same time Europe can be said to have made significant achievements in combating gender based violence. Despite that, research reports show that this also occurs in many places in Europe still. In this context our project was born. The vision of our project is a society of social justice where all people enjoy human rights. Its aim is to enhance the competences of the young people to be instigators of the changes they wish to see in society and strive for social change. Our project will address topics along 2 lines: (1) LGBT/Gender roles/Diversity and (2) Migration and minorities. The objectives of the project are:- To challenge stereotypes and prejudices of young people- To encourage young people to change their perspectives- To raise young people’s awareness related to social justice and human rights- To stimulate young people’s positive participation in societyThe project will involve 4 activities; 2 Advance Planning Visits (APV) and 2 youth exchanges. The first activity A1 refers to the advance planning visit which will take place in Ireland. The next activity A2 is a youth exchange which will take place in the same country and will address the topics of LGBT/Gender roles/Diversity. The objectives of Activities A1-A2 are:1. To explore stereotypes and challenges related to gender and sexuality2. To explore Human Rights (HR), social justice and gender equality3. To acquire skills to promote positive participation in society4. To develop an action plan of follow-up activities to be implemented on local levelThe third activity A3 is again an advance planning visit which will take place in Lithuania. The last activity A4 will take place in the same country and will address the topic of migration and minorities. The objectives of Activities A3-A4 are:1. To explore minority realities in different countries2. To explore reasons for migrating and challenges connected to it3. To acquire skills to promote positive participation in society4. To develop an action plan of follow-up activities to be implemented on local levelWe will have a combined number of 84 participants; 10 for the first APV, 32 for the first YE, 10 for the second APV, and 32 for the second YE. Around half of the participants will come from backgrounds of fewer opportunities. The whole of the project will be undertaken using methods of non-formal education. Some of the more prevalent exercises we plan to run are "Theatre of the oppressed", "Human library", and "Mission Z".It is our goal that our young participants will formulate their own action plans after both youth exchanges and work to implement them at home. We wish to see them encouraged to critically reflect upon the situations described in the opening sentences, consider what their own views are, and feel encouraged to become agents of positive change and active citizens in their own communities. The expected impact on the participants, after taking part in this project is to improve their competences (skills, knowledge, attitude). Among others, they are expected to:- Have a broader knowledge on the topic of gender equality, social justice, human rights and minorities- Be aware of the obstacles that women/LGBT community and youth from minorities may face in society- Gain knowledge on preparing and implementing local actions- Improve their foreign language skills- Improve their understanding of different cultures- Become more sensitive towards issues connected with gender and discriminationThe desired impact of these exchange includes:On local level1) Raising awareness about the issues connected to gender inequality and injustice towards people of various sexual orientations, immigrants and minorities through the implementation of the action plans prepared by the participants during each exchange. The action plans will include a set of activities and events that the participants will implement back in their home city in order to disseminate the results of the project and raise awareness about the issue in their communities. On national and European level1) Raising awareness about the situation of girls and women, LGBT, immigrants and minorities with the help of a video developed during the project. This will also help the youngsters see how they can directly contribute to spreading a message beyond their local communities.
