A glass filled to the middle could be interpreted in two ways: as half-full or half empty. Also living life as deaf or hard of hearing can be interpreted in different ways: The first one is to focus on hearing status and hearing loss. In difference to this, you can also focus on the use of sign language and living life as part of a linguistic and cultural minority in Europe that is important and enriching for each society. During a summer camp in Germany, 2 hearing pastors, 4 sign language interpreters some deaf adults and many deaf yout together explored the concept of minority in a European dimension and disussed how tis is aplyable to deaf youngsters as an interpretation framework for life as deaf or hard of hearing. Through this we chalanged them and gave them new strength and confidence. Through meetings with other deaf youngsters got awider social network with others in the same situation. Aleready now we know abot private firendships and plant visits out of the project.
