Date du début: 1 oct. 2016, Date de fin: 30 sept. 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Social, economic and technological changes in our age have been increasing rapidly and their impacts can be seen in working life as well. Rapid developments require people, organisations and nations to keep pace with the change. Because of the rapid changes, any information we learn are replaced by the new within the shortest time. Societies, organizations, and countries can become organized in a healthy way and gain continuity if they keep pace with the change. “Education” is certainly the most efficient and basic way of keeping pace with recent developments. Countries’ level of development is directly proportional to how much importance they attach to education. As in all other fields, there have been and will be quite a lot of innovations in the field of education as well. These innovations have brought about some developments in the field of health, as is the case with many other fields. The age of date rate has increased; rapidly aging population has facilitated scientific developments in health; and new areas of expertise have emerged. One of the areas that has emerged in parallel with these developments is Geriatrics/Gerontology, in other words ‘the study of old age’. While it was firstly examined in UK, today it is a special academic discipline in all European countries. On the other hand, playing an important role in the field of health, nurses are specialists who contribute to maintenance and improvement of health; help people keep safe from illnesses; and encourage people to become self-sufficient individuals by identifying the degree and method of help and practicing it. Nursing profession is extremely important and has always been open for change and improvement. The main purpose of healthcare services provided for the old is the use of all opportunities to take care of them. It is of high importance that qualified employees working with old people receive training about services provided for the old and their healthcare needs. In this regard, geriatric nurses aim to improve the quality of life of old people. In parallel with increasing population of the elderly, the need for qualified staff in organisations providing service for the old increases as well. Geriatrics/Gerontology is also becoming an area of specialization in nursing profession, which is an important part of healthcare. In this respect, this project addresses on Geriatrics/Gerontology nursing, which gains increasing importance across the world, especially in Europe, but not known well in Turkey yet. The aim of the project is to examine standards and practices in European countries which are advanced in this field and create awareness on Geriatrics/Gerontology nursing in Turkey.Within this framework, 8 nursing students with accompanying persons from every three schools-Ağrı, İskenderun and Mustafa Büyükoflaz Vocational and Technical Anatolian High Schools- are planned to attend a two-week traineeship programme in the field of Geriatrics/Gerontology in European educational institutions. Traineeship programme will be held in "ForModena soc. cons a r. l." in Italy , which have made great progress in the field of health.Provided with the opportunity of examining standards and practices in Europe, the students will contribute both to their own professional development and the field itself. In addition to the experiences to be acquired, participants will be issued certificates that prove the experiences. The project can also be regarded as a kind of research that indicates the current position of Geriatrics/Gerontology nursing education in Turkey. It is being discussed that certain arrangements must be made for the management and implementation of the project. Also, certain teams that can carry out the works regarding proceeding of the project are going to be created. The team members will consist of voluntary staff who can work devotedly and cooperatively. Participants will be selected within the framework of certain criteria to ensure maximum benefit from project's outcomes.Dissemination activities, which primarily serve for the project’s logistic and pedagogical preparation activities, monitoring activities and for ensuring maximum benefit from project's outcomes, will be carried out in cooperation with the teams responsible for management and implementation of the project. As is seen, the project is designed within the framework of a strategic plan that demonstrates how the participants, school administrative and teaching staff, and all other people, organisations and institutions that are not involved in the project directly but affected by the results will take part in the project and how they will benefit from the outcomes.
