in Maramures county are living 12600 Roma people, and 3500 of them in Baia Mare Municipality. In the past years there were several scandals about the city's Roma community. Some Roma families, which lived at the city periphery was moved to an abandoned building of an old factory, there were families who liked the new situation, and there were who didn’t like this. Also, around two blocks of flats was built a real concrete wall. In these flats were living just ethnic Roma people. Because of these scandals the international and European attention focused on the situation. Starting from the English newspaper Daily Mail, or the Amnesty International, to the European Commission, everybody investigated the situation. Our organisation already runs projects on tolerance, living together, sharing cultural diversity, local multiculturalism. Our experience is that, if in a project Roma and non-Roma young people participate together, they can enjoy the cultural diversity, and learn a lot about each other’s culture. We organize our partnership building seminar in Baia Mare, between 7-13 october 2016. On 8th October is the National Day of Roma Musicians in Romania. This will be the 2nd day of our seminar, and we will organize on this day a Roma culture evening, focusing especially on the famous gipsy music. Our partnership building seminar is aimed at bringing together Roma and non – Roma youth workers, youth leaders, project managers in order to explore together Roma culture, to share the political, cultural, educational and economic approaches of different countries towards Roma communities and how Roma communities react on these stereotypes and prejudices. Give an answer to these approaches through sharing methods and techniques how Roma and non – Roma young people can be involved together into youth projects in order to break stereotypes and prejudices and getting to know Roma culture even better. Then we plan to build partnership among organisations deal with cooperation among Roma and non – Roma young people through supporting each others’ local work and inventing youth exchanges together for two reasons:- Roma young people from different Roma cultures from different countries can meet each other and share their cultural background. Maybe this way they can understand more their roots and getting positive point of views for their future.- Roma and non – Roma young people can get to know more each other and use Roma culture as positive tool during the youth exchanges. All of our partners and participants are experienced youth workers having Roma background or working with Roma young people. We all consider our project essential for our target groups and local communities in order to break stereotypes and prejudices, to learn more about different Roma cultures, to exchanges good methods, to invent youth exchanges and to find appropriate partners who can understand our challenges and support each other work through a strong European partnership between EU and EECA and Western Balkan countries.
