XPressYourVision, self-empowerment for the visually impaired
Date du début: 1 janv. 2010,

The project addresses visually impaired and blind persons between 18 and 65 years and moreover those suffering from sight loss at age to assist them in further education. Working on vocational rehabilitation we are experiencing the target group having a profound professional knowledge but nevertheless individual difficulties to meet the requirements on a changing European job market and modern workplaces. This often is related to the person’s individual soft skills and the ability to cope with one’s impairment appropriately to the situation. The project focuses on strengthening the target group’s self-determination and communicative competencies. It not only supports job starters but also elderly people who want to express themselves confidently in social and professional environments despite their individual limitation and empower them to successfully apply for and to do a job. Our aim is to develop training modules and communicative services in close relation with the target group to improve the contents and the way of providing training for key competencies. The central product of the project will be an internet based accessible learning and communication platform, which also works well with netbooks, as we want to make mobile learning also accessible for people with sight loss. The e-learning modules will be offered in all partner languages and open up opportunities for those who want to apply for a job in another European country. E-learning phases will be designed to interlock with face-to-face methods of consulting according to the participants' needs. Besides the above mentioned accessible e-learning platform the project outcomes will also cover accessible learning content (text, audio, video), a best practice brochure and a handbook. In the long run the learning modules are designed to be exploited by European vocational training providers to sustainably increase the participation in social and working life for people with sight loss.
