Project "Higher competence in English for Teachers of Gimnazjum No. 1 in Piekoszów", concerns the participation of 5 teachers in the course organized by the training center IPC Exeter, United Kingdom. The course responding to current recommendations for work made by the Board of Education, will not only give better language and social skills, but also practical ideas how to implement innovative methods related to the use of English in the teaching process. The course aims to help teachers raise their language skills, become more aware of their European citizenship and get familiar with other cultures. The course is useful for teachers of all subjects willing to work in international projects demanding the use of English. During the course teachers will interact with colleagues from different countries, coaches and Exeter residents, and this way they will learn about the UK and other European countries. Accomodation of the participants in the homes of people cooperating with the Training Centre Exeter will actually make participants to communicate in English.
For teachers of Gimnazjum in Piekoszow who are interested in working in the future in a multi-partner school project in which the working language is English, this course is a good starting point and potentially a good place to meet partners from different countries. In this context the training will support our school’s European Development Plan.
After finishing the course teachers will work in a school project team and in cooperation with the management they will disseminate their experiences and prepared materials in the school environment and local community. The headmaster will include activities related to the project in the current School Working Plan, and the school will start new ways of teaching (multi - partner project ).
Effects of the training will permanently improve the quality of school work. Teachers and students will become more motivated to work. The school will be a good example for others in the region, as the one which is taking advantages of EU programmes and implementing innovative methods in its work.
