The aim of our project is to improve the quality of education in our school by implementing modern teaching methods. Its scope includes developing an e-learning platform for the students (mostly for compulsory matura exam subjects), creating a multimedia library containing recordings of concerts, workshops and school performances, as well as learning new teaching methods and incorporating them into the educational process. We intend to prepare our teachers to work with students from different cultural backgrounds and provide the necessary assistance for our present and future students. In view of the changes in the format of the matura exam(the extended level) and the need to prepare our students for it, we are also searching the most effective methods of teaching foreign languages. Therefore we aim to implement ICT techniques, which will ensure more involvement of the students and easier and faster access to the curriculum content thanks to the e-learning platform, as well as better student-teacher communication, particularly in the case of poor attendance. Incorporating the CLIL method into teaching is supposed to expand the students’ general knowledge and guarantee better results in the teaching of foreign languages.9 participants will take part in the project:-An IT specialist responsible for creating an e-learning platform,-An IT teacher responsible for creating multimedia files, which will be subsequently used in class and stored in the archives of the school website,-3 English teachers- Polish and maths teachers, who will be involved in preparing and including different tasks on the e-learning plafform,-A PE teacher and the dormitory supervisor, who is supposed to look after exchange students from partner schools after completing the required language courses,-A biology and chemistry teacher, also holding the position of the school government supervisor, who is supposed to deal with school exchanges and use the e-learning platform in teaching in the near future. The four stages of the project include:The pre-departure stage:-organising a meeting with one of the head teachers and the accountant, selecting the group leader and preparing the schedule of the activities (analysing transfer connections ,accommodation offers, establishing payment deadlines, creating email accounts on the school server and Skype)-The content-related preparation, the participation of some teachers in language courses, implementing all the objectives defined by the course organisers- Holding a meeting aimed at familiarising the course participants with the history, culture and some interesting facts as well as some risks involved in staying in the target countries, (providing practical and logistical support)The mobility stage:Active participation in the course activities-maintaining regular contact with the group leader and, if necessary, with the coordinator Collecting required documents, bills and receiptsObserving safety rules- returning to Bielsko-Biała, submitting copies of documents in the school office( certificates, diplomas, etc.)Implementing acquired teaching methods, creating an e-learning platform and follow-up training- promoting the project at the local level(municipal authorities, other schools), at the nationwide level(The Ministry of Culture and the National Heritage, The Centre for Arts Education, other music schools) and the international level (partner schools, teachers participating in the Comenius programme). The methodology:After identifying some important needs of our school we chose a group of participants and the content of the courses that will contribute to achieving the selected objectives. We have written a project that we intend to realise after obtaining the funding from the EU.The knowledge and skills we hope to acquire will be implemented and the effects assessed. We expect that short-term results will involve increasing the attractiveness of lessons, posting some materials created during the courses on the school website, including the information about the project on the school website bookmarked "EU Projects" as well as a greater number of publications.Long-term effects will involve improving the results of the extended matura exam, adding new subjects, creating an e-learning platform, writing the curriculum with CLIL elements, better preparation of the students for studying abroad, neutralising a negative impact of poor attendance by implementing new teaching methods and e-learning, dealing with school exchanges more effectively, providing an e-learning basis for teachers of other subjects, increasing the quality of audiovisual materials. The participation of our school in the above-mentioned project will result in enriching the school website, improving both language and cross-cultural competences of our students, which will in turn help to establish international relations, intercultural exchange and promote our school in the local community.
