Working in Europe - Skills for Success
Date du début: 1 sept. 2015, Date de fin: 31 août 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Our project is called "Working in Europe - SKILLS FOR SUCCESS (SfS)". It deals with changes in the industrial workplaces all over Europe, with current TRENDS and foreseseable DEVELOPMENTS and also intends to create a deeper understanding of the way in which young people need to be prepared for the DEMANDS OF FUTURE-ORIENTED BUSINESSES. Six countries will participate - three Western European ones, namely France, Spain and Germany, and three Eastern European ones, namely Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania. This fact allows for very diverse situations , which is why we plan four learning/teaching activities in which students from all countries participate. Next to the common work during the meetings, each country will work on individual tasks, and there will be frequent communication via eTwinning (TwinSpace) and further social networks to compare and summarize the results. In the FIRST PHASE, we will deal with the industrial past and present of our countries. The national results will be compared and similarities and differences pointed out. After visiting a historical worksite (mine). There will be a transition to the situation of today when entrepreneurs present their businesses and discuss with the students. Back in their own countries, each group will then choose a successful business and describe it in detail. In the next common meeting, CRITERIA FOR A SUCCESSFUL COMPANY will be found and further successful companies visited, where these criteria can be put to the test. The SECOND PHASE focuses on the SKILLS REQUIRED FOR EMPLOYEES OF TODAY. As we believe that certain skills are less pronounced in some countries than in others (see section E for details), each country will concentrate on one flaw and devise exercises to train this particular skill, which will be done together in workshops during the next common meeting. Managers of successful companies will be invited to discuss if the identified skills are relevant for today's and tomorrow's businesses. Next, the work will focus on JOB APPLICATION. Each student will devise a folder for application (CV, covering letter). During the last common meeting, a "European application folder" should be devised on the basis of the national specifics. The students will also carry out SIMULATED INTERVIEWS with "real" HRMs and get useful feedback on do's and don'ts. They finally prepare a film summarizing what they learned about skills and application in Europe. It is our conviction that this project will have a deep impact on all the participants, as it addresses KEY SKILLS needed to succeed in today's (business) world (e.g. cultural competence, languages, ICT, adaptability, team work, responsibility for results, curiosity, mobility...). LINKS between the schools and their associated business partners will be reinforced, and both will learn from each other. Furthermore tangible RESULTS will be produced in the form of teaching materials like vocabulary booklets, fact files, diagnosis sheets, model CV, which will ensure the SUSTAINIBILITY of our work. A broad DISSEMINATION network will furthermore guarantee that the results and positive experiences of this project are spread in the schools, in the communities, in the area and in Europe (databases.)
