Work Experience UK
Date du début: 1 juin 2015, Date de fin: 31 mai 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Orkdal Upper Secondary school apply for economical support to the project «Work Experience UK» on the basis of the plans and strategies on international work for our school. One of the focusing areas of our strategical work is to highlight the vocational studies in an international perspective. This will be an important contribution to the local, and national, work of decreasing the drop-out numbers of vocational studies. In addition to this we also want the English language to acquire increased focus as a necessary communication tool for future employers in our international society. In long terms we hope to increase the general status of vocational studies through this project. At this stage the school apply for economical support making us able to let 32 students work in the London area in springtime 2016 and 2017 through the subject “deeper project work”. The majority of the students will be 17 years of age, representing the subjects Health Work and Security Services Primarily the students will have a work placement for 3 weeks related to their program of study. This work placement will have to be approved by us on beforehand. It is crucial that our students will achieve new and important knowledge and thereby reach the aims for the specific subjects. It is also of high importance that the students will improve their communicative skills in working English and through their interaction with their host families. The students will work during ordinary weekdays and will be having a time off during week-ends. Consequently they will be able to participate socially together with their host families, as well as with teachers, our receiving organization etc. All activity will be planned and completed in cooperation with our receiving organization. Teachers will be present during the whole stay. The teachers will have the main responsibility for the educational part of the project. After the staying in London the work will be severely evaluated in terms of to which extent the goals for the projects have been reached. These evaluations will form the basis of further work on developing our school. In the long run it is our hope that the participating students, as well as the experiences of the school as an organization, will be an important contribution in our work on preventing drop-outs and increasing the numbers of vocational students. This project will also be fundamental for future projects on internationalization on our school. For the students, the participation in this project will also be advantageous for applying for other exchange programs as part of their education. We also want our participants to be future supervisors and, if possible, host families for other European students visiting Norway as part of exchange programs.
