Work Experience in the UK
Date du début: 1 juil. 2014, Date de fin: 30 juin 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Our project "Work Experience in the UK" focused on the organisation of internships abroad for two target groups of our school in 4 mobility flows, spread over two school years. Target group 1 consisted of 26 students of Hospitality and Tourism (technical secondary education) and target group 2 of 32 students of Leisure Asssitant (vocational secondary education). For both groups internships are a compulsory part of the curriculum and internships abroad are highly recommended. The students of group 1 worked for 3 weeks in the Tourist and Hotel sector; the students of group 2 worked for 4 weeks in companies, schools, nurseries, fun parks, etc assisting with or organising leisure activities. Aims of the project on participants' level: The internships abroad offered a huge plus for our target groups. The students could improve their job and social skills and practise self reliance in a totally new and strange environment. They got a language and culture bath and expanded their knowledge about a new (and not highly popular) tourist destination. The majority of the participants finished the internship succesfully and showed excellent job competencies, were able to push their limits positively, gained self confidence and seriously improved their English communication skills. We also aimed at improving the participants chances on the international labour market (through Europass) and for some of them the internship abroad already proved helpful in finding a job abroad. Aims of the project for the sending organisation: The project allowed the school to improve mobility and quality of mobility for students and staff and to develop new practices (concerning evaluation, documents, support, etc...). Through the acquired funding we could ensure equal opportunity to all students of the target group. We could further expand and keep our international network and reinforce connections with the employers abroad. We were able to update our list of work placements and better adjust it to international and national requirements of what an internship should offer. Through the international collaboration we were able to reinforce the cultural and international dimension of all organisations and participants involved.
