Our gimnazjum is situated in the centre of Zielonka, a town placed near Warsaw with a population of 17 thousands inhabitants. The school gathers young people from the whole town. All primary school graduates meet here as it is the only lower secondary school in Zielonka. Our students come from different social backgrounds and their financial status differs too. It is a mixed-ability goup of young people who have various dreams, ambitions and plans for the future. Some of them are extremely talented, achieving challenging goals and some have serious difficulties in learning and so they have special educational needs. Those talented ones take part in various school competitions oraganised by Warsaw Board of Education and other national or regional educational organisations, achieving success and representing our school. We are a constantly developing school which deeply cares about the quality of teaching and work with students. Our goal is to promote foreign languages education in order to raise the awereness of different cultures among our students and motivate them to develop their skills. The project ‘Water the source of life’ is an ambitious plan which aims to carry out the international cooperation in scientific research. Aims of the project: 1. Improvement of quality and efficiency of foreign languages teaching. 2. Improvement of foreign language skills of our teachers (especially English language skills which is going to be the main language in the international cooperation with our partners while doing the project, but also Spanish as the second language of the project). 3. Bilingual class foundation with extended teaching material of Physics and Chemistry - these subjects are going to be taught with CLIL method (elements of English included) 4. Knowledge enlargement and educational skills improvement of the students especially in the field of science and English used as the language of communication in the project. 5. Using new technologies (ICT) in everyday school practice. 6. Promotion of the school in the local environment. 7. Gaining new exeriences in carying out the EU projects THE NUMBER AND PROFILE OF PROJECT PARTICIPANTS The teachers chosen to take part in language courses are ambitious, reliable, focused not only on understanding students needs but also the requirements of present job market. The participants are very active both during school lessons and in after school activities being oriented on expanding their skills. There are six teachers chosen to take part in the courses: three English teachers, one Chemistry teacher, one Physics teacher and the librarian. DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES: 1.Teachers’ participation in language courses abroad. 2.Workshops and language and methodological training courses for teachers of our school and surroundings. We are planning to increase the results of training courses by organizing workshops for teachers. 3.Creating bilingual grades with extended Physics and Chemistry based on CLIL method. ( teaching the subject with English elements). By creating this grade we will be able to fulfill our ambitions concerning science project. This will influence on increasing teaching quality in our school and will cause the improvement of school image. 4.Researches in English concerning the science project conducted in school and in the close area. 5.Execution of the science project with cooperation of research institutions and the partnership school from abroad. 6.Publication of research results with appliance of the Internet tools. The project will be conducted in English. 7.Undertaking the international cooperation within Erasmus + e-Twinning project. 8.Meetings of representatives from Science and Research Institutions. Results Implementation of the project in our school will have a huge impact on the development and modernization of our facility, as well as improving the quality of teaching. Language training and methodological research will enable us to carry out international projects in English. This project will provide a comprehensive change and give a new quality of educational processes in our school. On top of educational dimension (relating to academic and linguistic terms) the project carried out in this form will allow us to develop in students and other teachers attitude of openness and tolerance, curiosity of world and people as well as motivation to learn and develop their own interests likewise outwith the classroom situation. As a result of the described actions, it will improve the image of our school in the region significantly. The facility will be called a modern and pro-European school that thoroughly prepares young people for the functioning in the European labor market. The implementation of a research project in the English language certainly awakens in students a desire to develop their knowledge and will be a great step to the studies (perhaps thanks to the project, students interested would study in English or abroad).
