Wings of Hope
Date du début: 1 sept. 2015, Date de fin: 31 janv. 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The twelve months long EVS project will take place in Sarajevo from October 2015 to September 2016. The volunteer is going to do volunteer work in the organization Krila nade. This project is aiming to help the volunteer to gain different skills and abilities, by working in areas of interest to the volunteer, but also to gain experience on how to work with minorities, women, youth and the LGBT community in B&H. Knowing the impact the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina had on education, one of Wings of Hope's primary functions is helping and educating people who have not had the opportunity to finish their formal education. Objectives of this project are to empower the volunteer to work with children and youth without adequate support from society, family, school, etc; to become familiar with combining workshops with counseling and working with children who require additional support due to disabilities like emotional and behavioral problems and to foster understanding of post-conflict development and the needs of vulnerable groups such as youth, women, minorities, and members of the LGBT community as they are the target groups for the host organization. For the planned support in running various workshops, there will be only one volunteer who is going to be able to learn from professional stuff by taking part in workshops that are running in Krila nade for years. He will be working with young people who have lack of adequate support and guidance in learning valuable social skills which are necessary for coping with different situations, so they often struggle to integrate into society. Also the major problems facing Bosnian youth include: hyperactivity, aggressive behavior, emotional deregulation, substance abuse, and hyper vigilance. So working with them he will be learning how to work with children who require additional support due to disabilities like emotional and behavioral problems, and he will for the first time come in contact with young people who are suffering from war trauma and young people who live in extreme poverty. So in t. Through his activities she will get to understand needs of the people living in post-conflict societies and which methods to use in working with them and in this way he would be able to learn different ways to approach them and what different methods to use. The volunteer will assist with supporting the running of various workshops with the topic of arts for children and young people; supporting the running of various workshops with vulnerable groups such as women, minorities, and members of the LGBT community; learning about project development developing skills for all stages of project management (research, monitoring, concept development, funding application, project activation, implementation, donor relations, reporting, and evaluation); promoting volunteering and youth work, including providing more information about Erasmus + and especially EVS, in secondary schools; taking classes of Bosnian language; mentor meetings and meeting the local community with someone from Krila nade's staff. The most impact will be felt by children and young people who are already part of the host organization or that will become a part of it during the duration of the project. Meeting young people with foreign volunteers is very important because in this way they can obtain new insights, exchange opinions, learn from each other and enhance foreign language skills and gain intercultural competences.
