The main objective of the project "More than a language: Language and cultural training course in German" is to develop and implement standards for language and cultural trainings for people moving to German-speaking countries or getting in touch with the culture of these countries in professional or private life. Learning foreign languages has become a key component of education. Employers increasingly expect potential employees to be able to speak not only one, but two or even more foreign languages. Germany is Poland’s major trade partner, German-speaking countries are also under most popular destinations of Polish permanent and temporary migrants. Therefore, there is a need to develop not only linguistic skills but also intercultural awareness in the language classes. The project includes staff training courses in Austria, Germany and the UK as well as monthly job shadowing in Germany in an organization providing language trainings for corporate customers. Participants will be German language teachers and staff members of the school responsible for internal organization and management of German language courses. The project will contribute to the improvement of linguistic skills, intercultural and media competence of the persons involved. The organization will gain better-educated professional teachers of German who know how to work with students with various professional background as well as to design language and cultural trainings that respond appropriately to the training needs of individual attendees. Trainings conducted by the school will be more interesting, more suited to the requirements of the international labor market, preparing better for the mobility across the EU. The project will also contribute to the promotion of mobility of adult learners and professionals as well as to increased and better cooperation between Poland and the German-speaking countries.
