What´s your moove? -early intervention through physical activity and the YAP model to promote future wellbeing of disabled children
Date du début: 1 sept. 2016, Date de fin: 31 août 2018 PROJET  TERMINÉ

This project addresses several key competences outlined by the Eu Com as well as supporting national curricula in the participating countries. Enhancing the quality of ECEC in order to improve the quality of services for better learning outcomes and to ensure a good start in education for all. In particular through projects aiming to develop a holistic and age appropriate pedagogical framework including professionalizing the workforce for ECEC as well as ensuring that the benefits of early childhood education are carried through to other school education levels, and projects that develop new models of implementation, governance and funding for ECEC. BackgroundYAP - was developed and evaluated by the Center for Social Development and Education at the University of Massachusetts at Boston in collaboration with the Frank Porter Graham Research Institute at the University of North Carolina. YAP - is an innovative sports play program with 76,000 participants aged 2-7 years involved around the world. The program includes active games, songs and other play activities that help children develop motor, social and cognitive skills. Providing scripted Lesson Plans to use over an 8 week period and Training video resources . For each week there are 3 days of Lesson Plans for a total of 24 days. Young Athletes Motor Checklist is conducted before starting and then repeated after the 8 weeks, giving a indication of the progress that has been made in these 8 weeks. We will be repeating the program at least 2x a year, that is, once every spring- and fall-semester, which makes it 4 times over the course of the project. During the 8 weeks, the project leaders will be responsible for eTwinning project, using the eTwinning platform to mediate videos/pictures/documents demonstrating each country's own implementation, ideas and communicate with each other. Objectives The teachers will be acquainted with the YAP as a teaching tool, to work with when evaluating/stimulating/enhancing children's skills. They will learn to use the YAP test as a tool to map children's skills and also with the making of individualized learning plans. Children with and without disabilities will get better opportunities to learn, grow, have fun and be prepared for future participation in life. For children with disabilities the preschool years are a crucial period for supporting motor skill development, given the rapid growth taking place in young children (Favazza, Siperstein, Zeise, Odom and Moskowitz . 2011. Young Athletes Intervention: Impact of Motor Development). There are three participating preschools in as many countries; Heilsuleikskólinn Háaleiti in Iceland; Palliponn preschool - Tallinn, Estonia; Skogmo preschool - Jessheim, Norway. There will be six transnational project meetings for planning and preparing, two taking place in each participating preschool. The first and last one will take place in the coordinating school. These meetings  would a include a day of job shadowing the daily work in the preschool and the opportunity to discuss how YAP will be executed in the participating countries, as well as learning courses and/or lectures and visits to other schools of interest in the vicinity. In between YAP will progress in the different preschools using eTwinning for mutual presentations and discussions. The project also includes monthly Skype meetings, addressing certain topics involving YAP, based upon the experiences during the 8 weeks activity plan. In line with Erasmus+ our long term objective is to improve quality of life and competences in a lifelong learning perspective, through early intervention and methods of non-formal education and training, from early childhood education and care using the YAP model. This project lays the basis for a long term cooperation between the participating educational institutes, and with the SO, we get support and increased learning opportunities by the possibility to connect with other countries all over the world. Impact The expected impact is on the teachers they will become more aware of the possibilities of the YAP and capable to use the YAP as a teaching tool. Teachers will become more flexible and open for new methodological approaches, breaking barriers of thinking and creating opportunities for teachers to develop on an international level as the project evolves. The collaboration with reliable and creative partners will create or reinforce positive attitudes towards national and international collaboration. The impact on the children will be more enhanced skills resulting in better emotional and physical health and wellbeing. The expected impact on the schools will be an effective and accessible policy on how the parties use motor activities in their educational approach when working with disabled/special needs children, promoting the possibilities of a better future for these children and other children in European preschools
