WERTvolle ERDE! Verbrauchen?Verzichten?Verwerten? Wie wollen wir mit unseren Ressourcen umgehen?
Date du début: 17 juin 2014, Date de fin: 31 déc. 2014 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The conducted activity was part of the project „ewoca³” (three countries, three partners, three years) that the Jugendakademie took part in since 2012 along with our partners from Italy and Bosnia-Herzegovina. Thus the activity of 2014 was for now the last project of the three-year project phase. Under the title “Valuable earth? Consume? Relinquish? Utilize? How do we want to handle our resources?” 21 young people and their teamers from Germany, Italy and Bosnia-Herzegovina dealt with our basis of life in Kos. Dubica (BiH) from July 16th to 29th 2014. In the course of this the issues of consumption and use of resources were central in the camp and during the activities. The teenagers were concerned to figure out whether economical usage, relinquishment or recycling could be solutions to this vital issue. Problems and alternatives were discussed and experienced during excursions. New ideas for other methods of consumption and wastage were creatively developed in workshops. During these workshops there also were discussions what the respective situation of the participants’ home countries is like. In creative workshops the participants developed hands-on alternatives: 1. Waste bins made of plastic bottles 2. Decoration items and jewelry made of waste products 3. Building of benches and tables made of old pallets 4. Restoration of old furniture Moreover the issue of sustainability especially with regard to food was integrated in every-day camp life. Some of the participants already took part in the ewoca-projects of previous years. The other participants were acquired through partners (mainly youth welfare services) since the target group was disadvantaged adolescents (aged 18 to 23). The German participants were from the youth welfare services (e.g. adolescent living groups), the Italian partner cooperates with institutions that work with youngsters who are under psychological pressure and the Bosnian participants are mainly socially and structurally disadvantaged youngsters (unemployed adolescents). The impact of the project most of all is for the participants to get to know one another intensively and learn they are capable of acting in a European context. The activities-focused realization of the issue as well as the public presentation led to creativity, self-confidence and a sense of achievement. They learned that language skills are helpful but that there are other methods of understanding and making contact. They also got to know the international dimensions of an issue and experienced how an international group can realize decision-making. In the course of this they trained their capability to reflect and to handle conflicts constructively. So overall the camp helped the teenagers in their personal development. They learned that they are capable of acting, took over responsibility and put their life in a global context. The feedback proved that the participants broadened their ways of thinking and behaving. This becomes apparent when considering that one of the German participants meanwhile works as a European Volunteer with our Bosnian partner. The partners have intensified the cooperation and continue to reflect on problems during the cooperation.
