The concept of "Integration of cultural diversity at the elementary school Alsterredder" was developed at the school a year ago and forms a long-term goal to gain experience with cultural diversity. This concept will be anchored in the school profile and will have its permanent place in the future. The student body has a little cultural diversity because of the location of the neighborhood in Hamburg and so there is a lack of experience in cultural exchange. These experiences will be made possible by the contents of the concept. A team of two ladies took up this task and would - by the summer training in Cracow, Poland - like to get to know more ways to make international work possible. Different questions arises: Are there other tools in the media work, how do other countries work at school in the daily life, do the other countries follow similar goals as we do, is there an overlap in the learning approach and are there opportunities for cooperation? What are the possibilities of differentiation in other countries, how do the other countries implement the diversity of methods? How are foreign languages taught in other countries? How do the other countries integrate cultural diversity into the daily school life? These questions form the basis for a further analysis of our own skills and abilities. Therefore it is important to continue to get to know the own abilities and continue to develop. The training is the ideal setting to resolve all outstanding issues, or at least begin to understand in order to derive further steps on our way. The training also provides a very good basis for further mobility and cooperation activities. There is the opportunity to meet future partners and develop project ideas together and then work together in a school partnership or an eTwinning project. Through the international work the students are given many opportunities over the long-term to interact with children from other countries. Due to globalization and the internationalization of the business world, it is extremely important for us teachers and for students to become familiar with the language and culture of different countries in order to reduce barriers and promote global tolerance.
