Web 2.0 for People with Intellectual Disabilities
Date du début: 1 janv. 2011,

People with Intellectual Disabilities (ID) are the largest and most marginalised sub-group of the disability community. The extent of this marginalisation, and its negative impact, is particularly evident in the context of active citizenship and employability. W2ID will enable people with ID to capture and communicate learning experiences, using Web 2.0 technology, to create accessible peer learning materials and support networks to improve their inclusion, active citizenship and employability. Rix-UEL has developed and widely piloted a highly accessible prototype web package to enable people with ID to share in new Web 2.0 activities including peer-to-peer media sharing, Wiki content generation and blogging. W2ID will further develop the technology, methodology and pedagogical design, to create a customised European Web 2.0 portal for exploitation across the EU. The system will be piloted with young learners and adults within the ID community in 5 partner countries: PT, LV, UK, AT, FI.We will produce 3 key outputs (PT, LV, IT, FR, DE, FI, ES, EN) that will form the Web 2.0 system: PILOTED 'EASY BUILD' WEB PACKAGE AND INTEGRATED PEDAGOGIC APPROACH: Web 2.0 tools will be used to provide people with ID and their supporters with a simple system to create their own rich media 'wiki' websites. The Web 2.0 tools and pedagogic approach will be informed by European level user requirements and a comparative analysis of existing technology and practise. NATIONAL LEVEL PORTALS: Will combine and moderate the Web 2.0 content developed within Wikis in project trials, to provide regionally coherent lifelong learning platforms of peer learning resources for wider communities of the same language. EUROPEAN SUPPORT HUB: Providing online training and guidance for end users with ID and their supporters with technical, methodological and pedagogical materials enabling web content generation, transition learning outcomes and the sustainable exploitation of the project outputs.
