WATER - The blue way to a better life
Date du début: 1 oct. 2016, Date de fin: 30 sept. 2018 PROJET  TERMINÉ

This partnership aims to look into the way water (rivers, channels, lakes, seas) has been determining to the development of our regions (in the past and present). Portugal, the country coordinator of the project, has the 10th largest EEZ (Exclusive Economic Zone) in the world and the 4th largest in Europe thanks to its coastal zone - which has always determined its history (country of Discoveries, sailors, fado - expression the longing caused by the absence of seamen) .Today, it is a country whose identity is inseparable from the sea - the country of fishermen, migrants and immigrants, host of refugees.Bulgaria can bring its expertise related to the thermal waters, the river Danube and the Black Sea.SicíIly earth of water and fire at the same time, is facing a serious problem with regard to refugees and migrants.Belgium has the know-how of water analyzes and can "teach" the others how to perform. Greece, due to its situation has different issues to share and to partition. In all these countries, WATER is a symbol of purification and rebirth, BARRIER and MEANS between PEACE and WAR, between FREEDOM and OPPRESSION, between ACCESS TO KNOWLEDGE and IGNORANCE. The project seeks to treat WATER both in a scientific, historical, social and political approach - in an attempt to raise awareness among young people involved, their peers, families, schools and communities. This will be done by means of research and analysis carried out by participant students from an historical, geographical, environmental and scientific (biological, chemical) points of view. Furthermore, the project will look into the social science aspects, such as economical, touristic and socio-demographic situation in each chosen area. The collected data will serve to draw conclusions, draft suggestions & unite the participants through a common vision for the future of their region, which will be compiled into a joint report. The major objectives of this project go through the acquisition of innovative approaches addressing the key challenges of today's world (employment, entrepreneurship, language, civic, intercultural skills, intercultural dialogue, democratic values and fundamental rights, social inclusion, non-discrimination and active citizenship, critical thinking, digital skills and literacy to the media). This project falls therefore in the Europe 2020 strategy, as its goals concern the climate/energy (climate and energy sustainability changes), education and social inclusion (combating poverty and social exclusion, reducing early school leavers, including migrants and refugees ).To ensure the quality of the project, we start by reflecting internally on the profile of participants (either partners or teachers) to more directly involve in the project. We concluded that the participants should, among other characteristics, have leadership skills and teamwork skills to later be better able to make the dissemination of the project, assuming the role of multipliers of new practices and approaches. After this selection, we chose the activities to be developed with the aim to meet the areas identified as most relevant, given the characteristics / profile of the institutions involved. The activities as part of this project will seek to raise awareness, promote civic engagement and create an atmosphere of a common sense of responsibility towards our common heritage. The project will further encourage participants' creativity through artistic expression (art form and literature), the use of ICTs and critical thought. Students will be directly involved by acting as future policy makers and environmental "activists", while identifying issues of concern related to water of diverse environmental, cultural, historical importance. The use of Internet will act as a vital tool in view of collecting information, which will allow students to understand the political and economic position of their region within a wider Europe as well as communicating information to the partners involved. A dedicated website will make the project information accessible to participants, other schools and the wider Erasmus+ and eTwinning community. In order that all institutions adequately fulfill their plans, we intend to carry out various stages of evaluation/ assessment of the monitoring as well as a moment for final evaluation. To this end, the implementation process will undergo measurement instruments, for example, degree of execution of the activities; degree of adherence of the recipients; number and type of recipients; contributions from partners and difficulties and obstacles. In terms of expected results and impacts, we anticipate that young people directly involved and their classmates, school, parents and family, as well as their local and regional community will be the subject of impact and at the same time, means of dissemination of a more positive attitude towards the European project and the European Union values.
