Kite surfing is currently one of the fastest developing and most popular forms ofsport, which attracts masses of people. Its dynamics and popularity can only becompared to the spread of snowboarding in the1980s - this is clearly evident fromthe fact that there are half a million active fans of this sport already even though the firstworld championship in kite surfing was not organised until 1999.The grant was used to buy the needed equipment for the sports centre, namely thesports equipment and rescue gear – snowboards and kite boards, vests, neopreneclothes – and the IT equipment ensuring continuous access.
