PROJET
TERMINÉ
Europe as a home for all can be developed only if we take responsibility together in working in different fields. One of the
important topics nowadays is gender equality and sexual based violence that we want to explore more and find out about future
steps in working towards this topic. The strong idea among partners is born after Consultation meeting on data collection:
administrative data sources and future needs for data collection that took place on the 19-20 March 2014 in Vilnius. On the
European level situations also not quite well bright. "Collection of comparable, sex-disaggregated data is necessary to measure
the effectiveness of our efforts for ending gender-based violence. Gender-based violence against women is still a hidden crime
across the EU. The absence of reliable data and information on the prevalence of violence impedes the progress of combating
violence against women. Urgent action is needed by governments to address this deficit”, says Therese Murphy from the
European Institute for Gender Equality. On the other side in November 2013 Serbia gave sign at the "Council of Europe
Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence".
This was a study visit with the main aim to rise awareness on non violence, gender equality and present theatre as a tool in
working with youth.
Specific goals of the study visit are:
- to promote active citizenship and participation amongst young people in their own community
- to rise awareness of gender equality and gender based violence and ensure space for exchanging methodologies and
approaches in working with youth under this topic
- to present theatre as a tool in working under topic gender and gender based violence
- to promote cooperation on European level and exchange methods and approaches in working under the topic of gender equality.
During the study visit there was used a non formal learning approach where all participants could actively participate and give
their contribution.
We had practical sessions in which we showed how theatre can be used as an important tool in working with youth and to
convey messages and ideas related to social issues.
Syncro and Centar E8 were responsible of most of the sessions and we received the cooperation of a member of one of the
most important theatre involved in social issues and in working with young people and minorities, Teatre dell'Argine from San
Lazzaro di Savena (Bologna).
We had also sessions regarding the gender issues managed by Syncro, Centar E8 and the Italian association "Maschile Plurale"
and "Casa delle donne per non subire violenza", using both formal and non formal education.
Italian and Serbian participants had the opportunity to discuss and confront each other.
At the end of the project Centar E8 played their show "Macho men" about male identity in Serbia in a public space in Bologna
where citizens have been invited.
The project also had the aim to develop and foster international cooperation in working on gender equality and non violence, to
share good practice and methodologies in order to create a picture of gender equality on European level and develop
approaches on working with this issue.
This study visit gathered 30 youth workers, leaders and young people interested in gender equality and art to build non violence
Europe based on tolerance, respecting human rights and democracy.
