The results of project is based on the conceptual materials, mainly from long-term strategy of MLP (Municipal Library of Prague), in which deepening and upgrading of qualifications of workers is one of the basic tools of human resource development. One way how to achieve this is possibility of internships in European libraries, where our employees can gain new ideas and deepen their knowledge. This is not possible without maintaining continuous contact with other European libraries and without following modern trends of librarianship.Municipal Library of Prague is one of two places (the other one is the city of Plzeň), which provides their users with the convenience of mobile services (bibliobuses), but because the service does not have a strong tradition in Czech librarianship, it is necessary to draw inspiration from the French experience, where these services have long tradition and are at a high level.Municipal Library of Prague has specialized departments of Artotheque, Theatrology and Music recognized by experts. Mutual contacts with similar departments abroad promote the development of knowledge and experience in the field. Specific libraries were asked for their cooperation on the basis of long-term correspondent contacts.Municipal Library of Prague does not underestimate work with children and youth and would like to get new ideas in foreign libraries how to improve and innovate this activity.Municipal Library of Prague is open to the wide general public users: we would like to implement experience from the library of Bratislava.Municipal Library of Prague, as one of the partners of the title holders Prague - City of Literature (capital city of Prague), is a strong partner to the other holders of this title of UNESCO. The city of Krakow and the Krakow library supported Municipal Library of Prague and mutual contacts are essential even for the future.Municipal Library of Prague and its affiliates constantly go through the process of innovation and modernization; it is necessary to be inspired by other new and modern libraries in Austria and the Netherlands. One of the aims of Municipal Library of Prague is to build a new branch, where it would be possible to use the knowledge gained during the internship in the library mentioned above.The project has 19 participants of library staff who work in positions of librarians in public services. Anticipated project activities are: internships and participation in conferences.The project is one of the tools how to achieve and keep the standard of the modern European library.
