TERMINÉ
The long-term target of the school is to improve language education, especially English. We are a small regional eight-year grammar school for 200 pupils, taught by about 16 teachers. Thanks to the project 6 teachers (teachers of English and other subjects) will attend foreign methodological courses, overall it is 7 mobilities in two years. We have chosen courses of CLIL methodology and methodological courses for English language.
All teachers have been preparing for the implementation of CLIL for a long time: attending English classes, they are interested in new teaching methods , or have already tried to use some CLIL activities on their own . With the proposed project they will improve and practise their language skills , gain more confidence in using English language , learn the specific approaches to connect the content of teaching with the teaching of a foreign language , they will be able to implement CLIL methodology , they get to know other teachers from abroad and therefore gain new proffesional perspectives. Last but not least, they receive an additional motivation for their work (burnout prevention ) .
Thanks to the project, a team of CLIL teachers will form in our school - gradually introducing foreign language teaching and learning methods into their everyday teaching , meet and consult any confusion and problems. The teachers are mainly internal school mentors - they are accustomed to visit lessons and help each other , provide feedback , etc. We are not about to introduce CLIL quickly , but we care for quality and work motivation of teachers themselves .
When the project finishes, the students will receive school extended learning opportunities, they will be able to use knowledge of English as well in other subjects. With better language skills of teachers , the school engages in international projects designed specifically for students more easily.
