Vorbereitung zur Verbesserung der Internationalisierung
Date du début: 1 août 2016, Date de fin: 31 juil. 2018 PROJET  TERMINÉ

in this training we would like to refresh our English skills, we will also be trained in the newest methods for motivation, usage of modern media, e.g. video, pc and technnical equipment. English teachers deepen their language skills in order to avoid speaking in German in inappropriate situations. New ideas can easily be adapted to our school's curriculum. We analyse language to improve our own speaking skills and deal with interesting tasks to successfully assess students' performances. In Ireland we get to know something about the Irish culture which would increase our knowledge about the angophone world. As described above, we do not consider diversity as an obstancle, but more as a ressource and chance for a better common understanding. Language plays a crucial part as a means of communication. From our students' perspective, the German language is not always first choice. For example students from Ghana, Syria or Afganistan sometimes switch to English in order to take part in everyday school life. We English teachers can and want to use this situation for better integrating our students. As a preposition to this we consider the training's offer to recieve professional advices concerning speaking skills and methodology as well as experience the intercultural flair in Ireland and the training's classes. Participating in this international training would make us aware of the potential within internationality and how to use it for our lesson planning. In this training the main focus will be on modern media which is an important key in teaching youngsters in this digital age. The usage of content via internet, i.e. webpage - or vlogcontent, is part of the youngsters everyday life and therefore bears the possibility of intrinsic motivation. Even if this can be taken for granted, how to effectively use these new media formats in the language classroom remains a highly debated question among the English department in our school. So this training should prepare us to use new media formats in a more competent way to make lessons more interesting for our students and provide effective teaching methods for other staff members. As we are both highly motivated teachers at the Frida-Levy comprehensive school we are planning to adapt our ways of teaching to our students. We believe that teaching English in this time and age means to think about language teaching beyond the common borders of school subject and classroom. We want to prepare our students to be able to deal with the English language outside the language classroom, for example in content and language integrated teaching scenarios and even outside the school while browsing the internet. Therefore we are at the beginning of establishing long term development structures in the curriculum to sharpen our school profile.
