Vorbereitung zur Verbeserung der Internationalisierung
Date du début: 18 juil. 2016, Date de fin: 17 juil. 2018 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Geschwister Scholl Gymnasium offers various activities in the fields of internationalism and integration. Our school has been organizing exchanges with numerous international partners for years. We also offer our students bilingual science classes and we enjoy friendly relations with our state’s central home for refugees, which is located near our school. With the mentioned projects building a foundation, we would like to continue our course of internationalization. One specific goal is to further our skills in the fields of interculturality, methodical and didactic aspects of teaching, as well as digital media. We would like to focus on improving the quality of teaching, introducing cooperative learning to more classrooms, expanded use of digital media, and put an even stronger focus on internationalism; measures which will benefit both teaching staff and students. These measures will not only help our students improve their communication skills, but also make teachers and students more aware of the importance of internationalism. Another aspect of improvement is the teaching staff’s skills regarding digital media. We would like our staff to be increasingly efficient in communicating with colleagues from other European countries, for example using the eTwinning platform, with the medium-term goal of establishing a new partnership with a school in the United Kingdom or Ireland. Two teachers were chosen for the intended training courses. Both teach English and have had the chance to experience longer stays abroad. They have shown commitment in the field of internationalization, e.g. by helping in organizing school partnerships or by carrying out projects to help and get to know refugees from the school’s region. The aim of the intended training is upgrading and in particular expanding the knowledge of the methodology and didactics of foreign language teaching. In addition, the use of digital media should be encouraged. The course contents of the desired course are suitable new methods in the teaching of foreign languages and the use of digital media to motivate students – thus, they perfectly meet our demands. This also includes the brushing-up of the language skills of the participating teachers by a two-week stay in an English speaking country. The so trained personnel should pass on the newly acquired knowledge and new skills to colleagues in order to promote the teaching in this area, for example, by an internal exchange of new methods of language teaching. These should also be included in the internal school curriculum. Also insights in the field of IT will be passed on to members of the English Department and other interested Foreign Language Departments to jointly discuss the possibilities of eTwinning and to decide on an introduction to different classes and courses. Subsequently, it should also be discussed in the English Department whether a new school partnership with a school from the UK or Ireland should be established. We expect an improvement in our methodological teaching skills in our daily work in foreign language teaching. Also, we hope for a new impetus to the use of new media and innovative teaching methods in the teaching of foreign languages in order to increase our professionalism. The focus is on the promotion of English language skills of our students both in writing and speaking. This appears vital to us, especially with regard to a globalized world and the European labor market. In addition, a motivational foundation for teachers and students should be laid to approach future projects.
